  • Week 32 Fairways of the Mountain Ebay Purchase Question?

    Hi All,

I bought an odd year fixed Week 32 Fairways of the Mountains at Lake Lure on Ebay a few months ago. I called the resort today to double check if the ownership was showing our names transferred over yet. They told me it had transferred over today. I got ready to pay the maintenance fees because I want to get it set up with II and deposit it and the girl said it had something called Fairshare points on it. She was going to have to call the closing company and find out some info for me.

I know the deed we have shows the correct resort and Week number. Anyone have anything like this happen and have any ideas what the points might mean?

I will guess the old owner has converted that to FSP program, so you can reserve your week from 13 month to 10 month before week 32, than after 10 month pass, that will belong to general public, but you can use all your points on all other resorts within Wyndham.

You will pay some extra for the membership, with it, it comes a free RCI week account.

If this is a week converted to Fairshare Plus points, there is an assignment document that a prior owner signed. You need to get a copy of that assignment. When you do and read it you will see that you can opt out of being in the Fairshare Plus program if you want to.

If you opt out, you will then own a fixed week and fixed unit according to your first post.

Thanks. I know absolutely nothing about Wyndham. Is a converted week to FSP a good thing? (Laughter). I thought I bought just a fixed odd week 32 at Fairways.

I've got a feeling we bought this from an original owner.

        Thanks for the help.

Thank you. I want to make sure I have all the information I can get before they call me back.

Here is a link to the original auction I bid on and won:

It will give you more flexibility. Whether it worth or not is another story, if your originally paln is to use the week less than 1/2 of the time, and exchange out, it is actually better for you.

You can call 800-251-8736 and talk to title. Haveyour contract number ready, ask them if this is a converted week.

The week may already been taken since it is pass 10 month to that week. If thatis the case, it maybe a little bit mess if you really wantuse that week this year. More likely, they can arrange o have the week back to you.

I personally like both point system and week sytem, and will encourage people to start with point if they don't know too much about TS to start with, but each one have different need.

If this week is a FSP week and not a fixed week - you will not be able to deposit it in II...I think!

Most Wyndham weeks are associated with RCI.

If you bought this to use as a II trader - splitting into 2 1BR weeks and get an AC with each side - see if u can get out of the points program....

Mike and Jya-Ning - what do you think?

edit to add - I own 2 EOY weeks at this resort....great trader!

You are right, OP will not get to II.

I already own a fixed week 27 at Fairways and it trades great in II. I had plans to use this Week 32 the same way. It was definitely sold to me as a fixed EOY week with no mention of points in the Ebay ad.

Update - I got this straightened out today. It's not in Fairshare points anymore. It was taken out of points before it was sold on ebay (apparently there was a computer problem yesterday when the resort was looking at it). I'm good to go (yippee) and Interval is giving me two bonus weeks for it -

So glad this has worked out - not that FSP are bad - the are VERY good - but not if you wanted the straight week.

Thanks, Pat. I love the trade power of the summer weeks. I spoke to a really nice II rep (Marriott desk) and he got me a 1/2 price Getaway week for extending my membership through Interval (so even better). He gave me his extension and told me to call him in about a week (watch online for my resort to show up) and he'll get my new week deposited and get those ACs set up for me, too. He even noticed an error on our account and corrected that for us. We were showing we owned an odd week at Marriott and it's an even, so he got that corrected. It's so nice to talk to someone that really knows what they are doing.
