      Sales... ?

Currently checked into Hill Country Resort in Texas - all kinds of sales activity on Sat and Sun - retail type - went to the RCI breakfast in the Welcome building on Monday morning - and still remaining 'on the board' were the 15 names - Mr & Mrs..etc. - NEW OWNERS on 1/25/2009 - and most were young parents with multi kids in tow...... SAD !!!

We need continued developer sales to ensure our future vacations!

I'm normally very quiet on this issue, but I just wanted to provide a gentle reminder that while it is absolutely true that many of these new buyers would be better served buying resale- I personally want the developers to continue having great success with new sales!

Without continuing developer sales, many timeshare programs that we take advantage of would be stagnant at best- and many could possibly cease to exist at all.. As a timeshare owner- I want new resorts to continue to be developed! So ring that bell and pop those balloons!

For those consumers savvy enough to investigate resale opportunities, you get and deserve my sincere congratulations and welcome- but those consumers that simply buy directly from the developer will always get my thanks!

I agree with Rikkis. We need the newbies to buy retail. The resorts would not be built otherwise. That being said, we were lucky to sell our week in Grand Cayman fro $1,500 that we purchased for $13,000 13 years before. Considering the trips we took, we did alright. We had 13 great vacations in two and three bedroom units. The kids had space to spread out Sure was a lot better than a Holiday Inn. We used the $1,500 to buy two units on the resale market and now we have 105,000 annual RCI points and a lower MF.

I feel like we helped the industry with the first purchase and helped ourselves with the second one.

Okay, I have a question were would I buy a timeshare that has a low maintance fee. I have two Wyndham timeshares in Florida. Is there anywhere else that is affoardable. I am currently paying in the forties for each of them. The points aren't bad 105,000 and 130,000. I just don't want to go up too much on maintance fees.
