  • Anyone using the Blackberry Storm?

I am looking to upgrade my cell phone service and my cell phone. Is blackberry a service or a type of phone? I want to browse the Internet and have unlimited services (text mess, pictures, video, Internet, email, radio...). I will not be using any of these services for a business I will be using them more for a media experience.

So I think I need data capabilities and a smart phone. Is this correct.

The Blackberry Storm and HTC Touch Pro are 2 phones I am looking at.

    Thank you,
    Mike

I got my wife a Blackberry Storm for Christmas. So far she loves it and can do all the things you mention.

DH and I got ours for Xmas(we had really ancient phones and wanted to get rid of Sprint).

Just starting to play around with it, Verizon transfered all my contacts, but only the phone numbers went through. So I have a pretty good handle on the keyboard!

Is Blackberry a technology or a service? Do you feel comfortable sharing your calling plan. Did you get the phone through your provider? I would like to get the phone through my provider and get the phone for around $300.00 if possible. You can purchase unlocked Stroms off ebay but the price is huge around $700.00 and up.

I also have Sprint. I am not unhappy with there service I just want to add more services and upgrade my old phone. I am afraid that if I change providers I will not get a signal when traveling. Sprint has not failed me even in the mountains when on vacation. But if I have to switch to get to a phone like the Strom so be it.

Is it difficult to hit the right keys when using the keypad? It looks like there is enough room for big clumsy fingers. Are there any cons to the phone? Is the battery life an issue?

          Thank you,
          Mike

I just purchased my new Storm a couple of weeks ago. I am very use to my cell phone being just that....a phone. But, I also knew having access to the internet would help me with work while on the go and of course it is nice to check on my personal email from time to time.

There are a couple of quirky things I have found - but I am sure I just haven't figuered out how to customize the phone yet. Spent about 3 quality hours last night with my phone and the manual!

Anyway. At this point I don't like or need to fiquere out:
            1. When I am checking voice mail - why doesn't the keypad auto show - I have to click on the keypad to enter my pin. Annoying.

            2. I would love to simply look at the phone and see if I have voice mail - I have to hit buttons to do that.

But, overall I love the Verizon service - I know it is pricey compared to others - but IMO it is the best service around here. So, I keep it.

I pay about $140 for unlimited everything - minutes, text, data, pics, etc. But, what I didn't realize is if I want navigation it is another $10 per month. Think I will only get that when I know I will need it.

Blackberry is a name brand like LG or Samsung. I really couldn't tell you what calling plan we're on. I know that we have 700 minutes, unlimited internet, 250 text messages (we haven't been big on text messaging but that could change with this phone) and free verizon to verizon calling. Most of our family has moved from Sprint to Verizon so 700 minutes is actually more than we really need.

We did purchase the phone through Verizon and had them set it up for us. The total cost for our phone, car charger and case was $297 all in. I couldn't begin to tell you why E-bay sellers would want $700 and I'd never pay that much for a phone off of E-bay.

I bit the bullet and bought a Garmin for my navigation. Larger screen, I don't have to interupt navigation to answer my phone, it works almost anywhere (there were some area's the Verizon Nav. didn't work) and, in saving that $10/month, it eventually pays for itself.
