  • Need Westgate Quick education

We are in Park City, considering taking a Westgate tour.

I told my better half that it seemed to be that there were problems with Westgate. (We do know better than to buy from developer, but would like to learn about up here and would like to own a ski week.)

So, any comments on what the problems are with Westgate? Any good? Any comments about Park City?

    Thanks

Nice resort! That's as good as it gets.
Westgate sales and service are the bottom of the barrel. Keep your hand on your wallet at all times, don't let them look at your credit card long enough to read the number!
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Westgate as an organization and resort managemrnt is probably the WORST in the timeshare business (and what with DRI and others out there with a myriad of issues that is REALLY saying something negative). They do build reasonably nice resorts - at least they are when new, ongoing upkeep tends to be quite poor - and Park City is supposed to be one of the nicer ones. But the overall attitude and anti-owner approach that Wastegate (a much more suitable name for this group) has makes any ownership at any Wastegate resort likely to be a frustration in the long run rather than a pleasant vacation ownership.

See it, take their gifts but do not buy from them. I would even hesitate to buy resale (actually we did but that has turned sour as all Wastegate ownerships seem to over time) even at a Wastegate you may really like. But if you should decide to risk the waters of Wastegate ownership always buy resale or you will pay far too much.
