  • Trying to help a friend sell her timeshare

    Hello and Happy New Year!

As with many people these days, I have a friend that is losing her job and would like to sell her timeshare. She has one at the Pinecrest Resort in Pigeon Forge across from Dollywood. The resort itself does not have a gold, silver or a hospitality designation but it is week 27 (July 4th week). The unit is a 2 bedrooms, 2 baths unit and the MF is $440 each year with an annual use.

What do you think of her chances of being able to unload ths? Do you think she can get maybe $500 or 1,500 for it? I know I see a lot of stuff on E-bay for cheap but noticed the cheap ones are usually low season.

I told her about Redweek as it is very cheap to post in their classifieds.

Thanks so much in advance for your help. I have no clue as to how valuable a timeshare would be in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is worth so your help is very much needed!

Some people like that area and for a fixed week 27 it probably is as good as it gets. I'd put it on eBay for $1 and hope to get the already paid 2009 MFs back.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Also try bidshares and craigslist for the area closest to the resort. Both are free to try so it doesn't hurt to try. Just make sure she doesn't accept a check for more than the agreed upon price. That is a well known scam.

Thanks everyone for your input. Although I live in Nashville and only hours from Pigeon Forge, I personally do not like that area. Gatlinburg is much nicer and always wondered what the timeshares there would be worth.

The bidshare and Craigs list is also a great idea. Although her week is 27, I think her resort looks rather dumpy from the pictures so not sure how it would rent out but it is an optiion.

          Thanks again!
