I deposited a week with II and have tried to book 3 different resorts any time for the next year. All are unavailable for any week. I used the feature that allows you to select the resort and look for any dates throughout the year. Am I doing something wrong or is it possible there is nothing available. Thanks.

While it is very possible that your experience indicates there is no availability; it is more probable that you are asking for something that you may never get. It's all about supply and demand. Without knowing what you deposited and when you deposited your week relative to its check-in date, and not knowing what you are asking for... chances are if you checked all year, you will never see what you're asking for becuase between supply/demand quotients and quality criteria you may not 'qualify' unless you're looking in the Flexchange period 45days or less prior to check-in when all these things are relaxed.

I deposited a 1 week Marriott's Kauai Beach Club MKW unit. Its ocean front and any week. I thought this would be highly regarded but maybe I am wrong. Maybe I should be asking what that is worth to II and how they base the level of what you exchange?

You didn't deposit ANY week, Marriott may have given you a lesser demanded week for deposit. What are you requesting?

Thanks again for your responses. I have tried HSL and SBH. Maybe I should ask how to I find out what level my place is worth.

            OK.

            First Welcome to TS4Ms!!

Second, you should have reserved a week at your home resort and deposited that week. What did you do?

Third, even if Marriott did choose a week for you which has a lower demand. Any 1 bd week at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club should have very good trading value. So this isn't likely a "trading power issue".

When depositing a Marriott week, II gives special preference to those owners requesting a different Marriott week, so you may find it tough to trade into the Tahoe Hyatt but pretty easy to trade into the Marriott's Timber lodge in Tahoe.

Lastly, II can only give you something which it has in it's inventory. If all the Tahoe Hyatt weeks have already been traded for by some other II member, II can't give you a week they don't have, no matter how good of trading power your week has.

            Hope that helps.

PS one last thing, if you're requesting a week for 2010 "tried to book 3 different resorts any time for the next year." you maybe trying to trade too far ahead. Most weeks are deposited about 10-12 months before check in, so if you're requesting a week for 2010 they haven't been deposited yet in II.

Thanks for all the info. I did not specify a week when I deposited it. I will in the future. II has a feature where you can check a single resort for any week for one year. That is what I tried but you may be correct in saying that no one else has given theirs back so I guess the best thing to do would be to keep checking. Thanks all for your help just learning the ropes.

If you know what you want, you really might want to put in a search such that your request is waiting if/when someone deposits the week you want.

OK things I have learned so far: Book my week first before depositing it (preferably a desirable week), try other Marriott's where I get preferential treatment, get on waiting list for when one becomes available (Must have to call as I don't see how to do that online). Anything else I should be doing other than looking for other resorts in the general area and checking frequently?
