Want to cancel from WestGate Kissimmee FL but need their address

My wife and I recently purchased a WestGate timeshare in Kissimmee Fl, but after doing some research on the web and also this site..WestGate is not for us. We are still in the 10 day grace period to cancel but I do not see anywhere on my contract to send all "this" stuff back to them.

If anyone can help me out asap, please post the address I can send these items back so that cancellation will set it's course.

Wow, this seems to be a common problem with Westgate. That is leaving the recsind information and address to do so out of their materials. I recently had a co-worker who had the same problem and there was recently another poster on this site who's contract was lacking in that information.

What we did was google their corporate address and send copies of the cancelation to both the corporate office as well as the sales office from which she and her husband purchased. All letters were sent so that they had to sign that they had received them. This worked out fine in her case.

We did find the sales office address listed in some of the paperwork and on the business cards that came with her sales package. The corporate address is all you should need. We sent a copy of the letter to the sales office as a safety measure and to eliminate the lag time between corporate notifying the sales office the deal was cancelled.

Be prepared for the salesman to call you and try to talk you out of cancelling. They'll tell you all sorts of things that make it sound like you should rescind or, even attempt to offer you a lower price, which usually comes with a smaller unit or less favorable travel times. Sometimes they'll even attempt to use guilt (you wasted my time. Your taking food off my families table. I'll get fired if I miss my quota). Don't believe them and stick to your guns. Westgate, if you even want Westgate, can be purchased for pennies on the dollar (sometime for $1) on the resale market. Personally, I wouldn't own Westgate if you gave me a week.

Thanks for the kind words. That was one of the nicest timeshare resorts we've stayed in since starting timeshare vacations back in 1998. I took around 1,300 pictures (new Nikon D40 SLR camera). I need to review what I've put up and make sure I haven't missed a few shots of the grounds. I'm pretty sure I have all the photo's of the unit up.

If it were me I would send it US Postal registered with a return receipt required.

For your protection, you should always either send your notice of cancellation by certified mail with a return receipt requested or obtain a signed and dated receipt if delivering it in person. Your notice of cancellation is effective on the date sent (postmarked) if mailed or on the date delivered to the seller if delivering it in person.

Well the notarizing at the Fed ex was already off for the day so not sending it off until tommorow...

US Postal is USPS correct?? Not UPS correct (Brown)? I may just as well use USPS since that is closer to my house..

The problem with Westgate is that they seem to leave that detailed information out of the copies of the contract information they give you. It's hard to follow instructions if you're not given those instructions.

IMHO, you only have to follow the laws of the state in which you purchased the timeshare. Additional obsticals placed by the developer should be easily overcome if you've followed those laws and you can prove that your intent was to cancel the contract, that you wrote the appropriate letter and that you made the necessary effort to have that letter delivered by a generally acceptable service.

The most important things are to prove that you sent the letter and to get proof that the letter was sent and recieved (or that they refused delivery, which I don't think would set will with state autorities).

I've cancelled two contracts myself and haven't had either letter notarized. My co-worker did not have her's notarized either.
