Posting separately as I did not want to opin on the OP, but . . .

Would it not be less expensive to just stop paying, and suffer whatever consequence, than paying someone $3500 to take your timeshare?

If enough people did that, just stopped paying, would the resorts/industry not have to finally address the problem of owners wanting to get rid of them, a problem the resort/industry started, intentionally, during the sales presentation?

Do things that stink like this not finally catch up with those creating the stink?

I would think you could list it on e-bay for $1 and agree that seller pays all closing transfer fees! (ie. just your bid due at closing) The e-bay charge, closing and transfer fees should not be more that $700.

I'm waiting for the next round of eBay ads that promote paying 2 or 3 years worth of maintenance fees just to dump it.

I have a friend who just got one on eBay, from a reseller, for free, m/l, with the 2009 fees paid.

Back to my OP, if you have exhausted your options, if you have tried eBay and you cannot give it away, and the PC company is not browbeating you (unlike the original seller ), why is it that they are the bad guy for taking it off your hands for a fee?

And if they are the bad guy, how 'bout offering some positive advice on how else to dispose of unwanted timeshares?

If you have a debt or a legal obligation and you hire an attorney to get it discharged, do you not pay the attorney a fee? In most cases an exorbitant fee?

Yes, but not all attorney's are ambulance chasers, telemarketers or spammers. On the other hand they tend never to tell the whole truth about anything.
