Anybody bought a resale timeshare. I recently purchased from a timeshare company and they said the whole process takes 3-4 MONTHs Does it really take that long... anxious to start using!

Some takes longer. Since most process go through snail mail. It does take long time. Are you purchase a point system?

It took 3 months for the last one I sold to complete the process. You would think with the housing market in the tank that deeds would get recorded faster these days but it seems like they aren't.

I've bought resales from Timshare Closing and the whole process has taken anywhere from one month to 4 months....lot depends on how fast I got required info to them etc....I do have to say the quickest ones were the ones which I got them required paperwork asap and used fedex.

Hang in there it does take time, but also I an a haunt, so I keep checking with them on the status....LOL

Sometimes the length of time depends on the clerk's office where the deeds get recorded. My first TS was in the Orlando area. The county clerk's office there is very slow unless someone walks the paperwork into the office and waits for it.

Depends.

Right now it should go quicker. My last one was not very long, I'd have to check, and with a notoriously slow company.

I ride herd on em, contact the Recorder, resort, etc.

I sold one recently, which makes it a resale, and when he handed me his check he got a Deed, 3 copies to send to the local resort, the resort company, himself, and an instruction sheet. His closing time would be dependent on him.

If he drove the Deed to the Recorder, I'd say a week.

Is that what the closing company told you. I personally know the head of Orange County, Florida recording office and the most lag time has been 24 hours with 99% of all documents recorded the same day as received. There may be a delay in getting the recorded paperwork back as it is usually picked up by the closing company, and now that they do electronic recordings with many title companies, I get me recorded deeds back generally within an hour.

If the closing company is giving you the they are slow line, then I would say that the closing company is using the recorder as a scape goat on why they have not done their job.

There are some areas like Hawaii, where there is 1 office for the whole state that things get slow.

Transfer delays...

The estimate from the reseller could also be leaving room for both the resort transfer process and the rci transfer process, which would occur after the resort confirms you as the new owner. Not sure what your home resort will be- but some take a month or so to enter a new owner into their internal system.

Transfer estimates do not always just mean when the deed is recorded. Often, that is just the first step in an ownership transfer.

However, that being said- Dave H's statement that if the closing agent is simply pointing the finger at the clerk- he's spot on that they either are just ignorant of the current processing times of the county or are simply making convenient excuses.

That is certainly much better than they were when we first bought, way back a century ago. Orange County took months then.
