  • Vacation Club Questions

I went to a Gold Crown Resorts presentation in DC recently.

The offer was 9K and dropped to 5600, 200 years, transferable, 2 weeks, no maintenance/annual fees, can use with friends.

    Was this a good deal?

I've seen 7-day Alaska cruises in April for $170 and day Disney Cruises for $450. I've seen good deals for other travel as well but the Disney Cruise stuff looked kinda good.

Does anyone else have any info on Gold Crown Resorts vacation club?

FYI. I already own Global Connections and I get Caribbean cruises for $350pp and for resorts I just pay a $96 processing fee for 1 week.

    Hi,
It sounds pretty good. I have 2 other programs, Voyages and Global Discovery, both work excellent, and it seems to be a fair price in comparison with what I paid. I say go for it.

I'm sure a supermod or two will check IPs etc for new posters (hint). But the answer to your question is generally that the group here feels that these travel clubs are not worth the money and that you're buying a dream. You both sound like you've bought the dream before and that it satisfies you. My experience with these clubs from other angles tells me that they sell a bill of goods and that you're very lucky if they come up with a match for what you want. If you're extremely flexible it may be the thing for you. It's not the thing for me. Good luck!

There is another resort in DC that is not Wyndham vacation club?

5k is a lot of money. You can pick few week almost free from eBay, and have it pay the MF for a long long while.

Timesharing is loaded with scam artists and the worst of the worst are working selling vacation clubs.

I don't know about that? I love my Disney Vacation Club. I think it's a great club.

Alaska Cruises do not start until mid May?

DVC and MVC are really timeshares and just called clubs.

They went to a presentation in DC, meaning they went to some hotel conference room for 90 minutes or more. Gold Crown Resorts has no resorts of their own to my knowledge although they may control some inventory somewhere.

We're not talking about 'Clubs' that are timeshare ownership or lengthy right to use. We're talking about Clubs that have little or no inventory of their own but eek out an existence peddling last minute and oversupply that they get from various sources.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I only know that Disney calls their timeshare a Vacation Club and I like it.

Definitely, one or two shills in this thread. One of them keeps bombarding me with PMs extolling the virtues and telling me I shouldn't ask questions if I don't want the answer. I've not asked a question in this thread.

Global Vacation Ventures Inc is a big scam

I stand corrected. I belong to 2 vacation clubs. One is called Voyages, and it's amazing and backed by 67 resorts, owned free and clear. I works amazingly and i have instant access to thousands of bookings online, 24/7. Excellent customer service and happy employees.
The other is Global Vacation Ventures, based out of West Palm Beach, and is a big scam. They work out of hotel lobbies and keep moving around. I have recently been made aware of their labor practices; they don't pay their employees anything! They force full-time hours on them, and then pay them $0-$40 per deal, and only when they feel like it! A full-time rep selling every day takes home around $300 a month!!
The majority of their travel must be booked by requesting in writing. When you look at online availablity, there is next to nothing, and if you try to book whatever is there, a message pops up that your browser doesn't support their site and to do it in writing.
They don't own any resorts, and have no financing. If you can't pay cash, and wish to finance; the reps don't get paid at all, the the owner keeps all the money. Buyer beware. If the vacation club is not backed by a solid timeshare or resort company-DON'T DO IT!!
