My husband and I along with another couple just booked a "getaway" through Interval to the Lawrence Welk Resort Villas in Escondido (about 35 miles away from San Diego). Has anyone visited this resort? Reviews, thoughts, or suggestions about where to visit during our week in SoCal would be helpful!!

You'll probably get lots of responses to this. We own at Welk, and love it. The villas are our favorite, but we'll be staying at the Mtn. Villas, the new ones, for the first time this year.
We always enjoy going to the theater. For the most part, they do a great job, and offer an enjoyable couple of hours.
It's about 1/2 hr.-45 min. drive into San Diego, and Oceanside is about 1/2 hr. away. I'm not sure how far the Wild Animal Park is, but it's a nice way to spend most of a day.
There is a Von's about a 15 min. drive south, and Trader Joe's isn't far.
The grounds are beautiful, and I love walking there. It's a peaceful place, and there are lots of activities for kids, and it all seems to co-exist beautifully.

We were there a few years ago and loved it. The resort is huge and the grounds are beautiful. The villa we stayed in, a 2-bedroom, was very large and tastefully decorated. We took the San Diego tour and the one to Tijuana as well. We thoroughly enjoyed both. We visited the Valley View Casino and found the buffet dinner there to be excellent!
You will enjoy yourselves at this lovely resort.

We also own at Welk
We own in the older units but feel they are the better units at least for us.
You are between 45 minutes and an hour from San Diego which has tons to offer such as their world famous zoo. Drive over to Catalina Island if you want to see a fantastic hotel. The San Diego Trolley tour was so good that we now look for them in every major city.
The resort itself is spread out with a beautiful golf course, theater, several rec. rooms, several pools and workout equipment. You won't be disappointed.
BartI live to vacation and vacation to live.

Ohboy! Whoa! I think you meant Coronado Island. It would be a very wet ride to try to drive to Catalina! LOL!
