October in Missouri I would think is far different from October in NE.
October can be nice in NE, early is better, if that is what you are asking.

October in Arizona, or Palm Springs is nice.....
If you enjoy the foliage, then New England would be great....

For us it is Laguna Beach in CA. Not too hot during the day and not too cold at night to enjoy a walk or sitting outside on the balcony and the best chance to see nice sunsets too.
PS.
Any beach city in Southern California would be nice as it is the same ocean, weather and sunset.

I haven't been, but I've read that Gatlinburg, TN is beautiful in October. It's on my list.

October is my favorite time to visit Orlando, but I also like Cancun at that time. Leaf peeping can always be done from my house.Comment

We always go to Hawaii in October. Plane fair is cheaper, crowds are gone, weather is great, and it's our wedding anniversary. October is a good time to go to French Lick, IN!!! I head to anywhere near the Smokies, a less-popular location than Gatlinburg (we hate crowds). I would love to go NE!! Vermont would be spectacular!Comment
