Originally posted by barndweller View PostThat is so true, Tony. It's too much like work!! Being retired, I can actually use all my weeks but the other things I like to do get short shift. I'm changing my game plan in 2010. One big, long winter trip 6-8 weeks escaping the snow and cold at home and then leaving some time available for last minute, spur of the moment stuff the rest of the year.
Problem is those dang deposits and bonus weeks drive me nuts while they sit there uncommitted.

Here is the RCI points limitation thread....
Originally posted by BocaBum99I just got the following message regarding RCI Points partners. It looks like they are severely limiting the amount of points you can use for Points partners. I guess they are having a hard time renting out units.
============================
Effective December 10, 2008, RCI® will be updating the RCI Points Partner Program. The updated program will reflect the feedback we have received from RCI Subscribing Members over the course of the year. Some of the value-added improvements to the RCI Points Partner Program include:
More Value for Your Points –
Get more bang for your buck every time you exchange your Points for discounts!
More Products and Services –
Major Orlando theme park tickets are back! Plus, book airfare, rent a car, or book a hotel anywhere in the world where RCI Points Partner products are available!*
More Flexibility to Choose Your Discount Level –
Fewer restrictions to the tiers within the RCI Points Partner Discount Grid!
In addition, we have made another important change to the program concerning the number of Points you can use per calendar year. You can now use up to (a) 33% of your annual Points allotment, or (b) 25,000 Points, whichever is greater. An upper limit of 250,000 Points per calendar year applies.
Here at RCI, we value your membership and we are committed to ensuring your vacation exchange experience is the best around. As we roll into 2009, we will strive to make this experience even better by bringing the RCI Points Partner Program online later in the year!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Your RCI Points team

Originally posted by katiemackPerhaps so, Boca, but whenever points are involved, the program will get changed, whether it is RCI wanting more points or limiting how and where you can spend them or flier "points" being raised up 10,000 plus to get a ticket...points programs are often slippery.
The bottom line is that ALL timeshare resort developers devalue ownerships over time. Some faster than others.
The beauty of points is that the average Joe can anticipate the changes and stay one step ahead of the Sheriff.

I AM A RECOVERING ADDICT. AT MY HIGH i HAD 21 WEEKS BUT IN MY DEFENSE 13 WERE A 1/4 SHARE WHICH i HAVE SOLD.
Now I have:
3 float weeks - ID
2 fixed weeks - CO
1 fixed week - NC
105K Wyndham points
Palace resorts - I haven't used this yet but a friend has.
I can stretch this to 8 weeks plus 4 AC's from interval. This year DH used 2 weeks & an AC for Business, My DB is using 2 weeks and my DD used 1 week & 1 AC Still have 4 weeks and 2 AC's banked.
I should still sell 2 weeks and definitely need to stay away from ebay

I must say I'm impressed by how many weeks some of you own. I think that even if I had unlimited time off, and finances were not a concern, I'd never own more than maybe 4 or 5 weeks. I just don't like all of the pre-planning of timesharing, I suppose. I don't get how some of you guys do it.

How does a week get devalued? Just curious.

kind of a late comer to this thread:
3 Marriott's (2BRs one LO)
1 Hawaii (KCR 2BR)
I always get a kick out of reading how people use their LOs for great trades and upgrades. Unfortunately for me, we usually travel with two couples and so need to guarantee two bedrooms and owning Marriott pretty much dictates using II, at least for the present, so trying to play the 1BR to 2BR trade game is too iffy for our situation.
