When you spend more time figuring out how to squeeze in time for vacations than anything else and going on them becomes more like work the glow fades. The year we did 12 weeks started the road to recovery.

That is so true, Tony. It's too much like work!! Being retired, I can actually use all my weeks but the other things I like to do get short shift. I'm changing my game plan in 2010. One big, long winter trip 6-8 weeks escaping the snow and cold at home and then leaving some time available for last minute, spur of the moment stuff the rest of the year.

Problem is those dang deposits and bonus weeks drive me nuts while they sit there uncommitted.

I own DRI points - enough for two weeks, sometimes three if I can spread them out by taking advantage of last minute reservations. We almost always book two units for 1 week and take friends along. With separate units, they don't feel that they have to tag along with us all the time. Last year, we only met up for late night drinks! I'd love to have more TS points or weeks and was even considering buying some Bluegreen points resale. But I only get 15 days off a year. So that really cuts into the fun time.

I guess, it becomes an addiction, when you own so many.

We have 4 fixed and 2 floating weeks. We like fixed weeks so much better but we can't let the one floating week go yet either but we would be very happy when the other floating week is out of our hair. It is an RTU so it will expire eventually. We are doubling up our weeks so it will go faster yet.

OMG 280,000 points? That sure gets a lot of trades, and I thought I had too many points with my 25,000 a year that I still can't use sometimes. How do you do it? I'm stressed thinking of all the vacations I'd have to take before my points expired.

I have a 23 yr old daughter and 20 yr old son who go Skiing, with their friends (on seperate weeks) each February. We always max out on our points Partners on flights. We then obviously have our vacations so we haven't had a problem using the points so far.

I am shocked!: No wonder you know so much about timeshares. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one addicted to vacations. I thought my 12 vacations a year was alot but I must bow my knee to you.

Well that makes sense then since you can use your points for flights. I haven't thought about that side of the points since I always use mine for the room. I'll have to check it out. Actually next year I think I'll take a Disney cruise with my points instead of my yearly mouse visit. Thanks for the idea.

Look at the RCI board - I think I recall a posting from a few weeks ago saying there was now going to be limits on how many points can be used for things other then TS units....
