I own WorldMark, and since I live in the SF Bay Area, we love to stay at WorldMark Marina Dunes since it sits right on a beautiful beach. Being only 1.5 hrs away from there we try to get there as often as we can.

Four Seasons Aviara is the other place we like to go. Have stayed there 3 times, and looking forward to our next stay.

I love to go to FF Nashville. Everyone knows Kelli & I are country music fans. The people are so friendly there and I can never run out of things to do. I really like to go to different places and experience new things rather than go somewhere year after year. shaggy

This is a very good question. Hard to answer because there are so many factors involved. Timeshares are like restaurants. New York Prime is my favorite restaurant in Boca. But, I only go there once or twice per year.
Taco Bell is not really that good, but I go there all the time because it is close and cheap. I can get a quick meal in 15 minutes. So, the standard to pick is difficult.

That said, here are my choices for various circumstances.

For a quick getaway within driving distance from home. Spontaneous decisions to go somewhere. Cheap when I get them. Nice places to stay. In no particular order.

        1) Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk. I go there 6-8 times per year (2-4 night stays). It is nice, but it's not a top 10 resort for me. Why do I go so much? It's readily available, I can get it for cheap, and it's within a short driving distance.

        2) Solara Surfside. When I am in Boca, I watch Bluegreen bonus time for Solara Surfside as much as possible (2-3 night stays). I try to get the 2br oceanfront units. I go used to go there 6-8 times per year.

        3) The Fountains. I love going to Orlando on Bluegreen bonus time (2-3 night stays). I used to go there 8-10 times per year.

        4) Wyndham Royal Vista. Another beachfront resort in Pompano Beach. It's so easy to get for cheap, I go there as much as possible.

        5) Marriott Ko'Olina. Love this resort for Flexchange. And, it seems to always be available when I want or need it.

        6) Hilton Hawaiian Village. Gotta love Open Season. HGVC's equivalent of bonus time.

        7) Wyndham Bonnet Creek. Always available for cheap. Great resort. Great location.

        8) Marriott Ocean Pointe. Great resort for Flexchange.

        9) Pono Kai. Always available on Bonus time for a quick trip to Kauai.

        10) Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort. My favorite resort on the Big Island.

If someone gave me a plane ticket and said go anywhere you want, here is where I would go. In no particular order:

        1) Four Seasons Troon. That place was nice. Love the golf and the spa.

        2) Maui Marriott. Can't beat the location. I like staying here even with a partial kitchen as long as I get the view.

        3) Maui Waiohai. Great resort on Kauai.

        4) Bluegreen Wilderness Club in Big Cedar. One of the best resorts on earth.

        5) Hyatt Coconut Plantation. I get there as much as I can.

        6) Disney Old Key West Resort. This is my favorite Disney Resort

        7) WorldMark Depoe Bay. Oceanfront units right on the cliffs. Fantastic location in Oregon.

        8) WorldMark Estes Park. The location next to the River and location in the Rocky mountains makes it unbeatable.

        9) Morritt's Grand. Can't beat the diving in Grand Cayman.

        10) WorldMark West Yellowstone. Can't beat the location for visiting Yellowstone Park.

I've been staying at Marriott's Cypress Harbour ever year for the past three years. I always like to take at least one trip there a year (even though I own DVC, too).

I've not been timesharing in all the exotic places some of you have. The place we seem to keep going back to is Resort on Cocoa Beach. We go in October and I've been lucky trading into it (but don't plan to go this year). The one place we've been that I'd take a trade to anytime it came up and I was eligible (1 in 4) is the Houses of Summer Bay.

            Nancy

ps. Never stayed at the two mediocre places I own.

While there are many that we find great and wouldn't mind owning, the only one that we return to every year would be Marriott's Ocean Pointe. Since 2001 we've stayed at Ocean Pointe every Nov. or Dec. with the exception of one year. We thought it would be OK to trade our ocean front unit for points and go on a Caribbean cruise. Needless to say we decided that was a mistake.

The only other timeshare we always use is an EOY unit at French Quarter resort in Branson, MO. My wife fell in love with it's location and the units are reasonably nice. For us it's an inexpensive drive to vacation but, Branson isn't a place we would want to take a full weeks vacation every year. So the EOY unit fit out needs and we enjoy it very much when we're there.

Our Marriott Grand Chateau is a unit we don't mind returning to every year but, Vegas is going through a lot of change and a lot of building. Some of the changes we haven't liked so, we skipped Vegas this year and will skip it again next year. Instead we're using that unit to explore other Marriott locations we've thought we might enjoy.

Our HGVC and Diamond Resorts units are both point system and, while we have a home resort we really don't consider them as any sort of fixed unit to go back to every year. It's doubtful we'll ever return to Polo Towers since we now own the Marriott week and, chances are slim that Vegas will ever go back to being a 2 to 4 times per year vacation destination for us. Corporate greed in the casino's (I can do math) really killed our desire to gamble and, we've seen about all the shows we care to see in Vegas at this point.

I don't know what I was thinking when we purchased our Grand Regency in Branson, MO week. What can I say, I was playing around on E-bay and ended up with what I thought was a deal at the time. Not that it hasn't worked out for us but, we really don't need it. I have used this inexpensive week to exchange into larger units are nicer resorts that have MF's higher than what I'm paying on this week so, we have used it to explore resorts we might not have gone to under normal circustances. It came in handy last year when we wanted to do a family trip to Branson to see the Christmas lights so, it works OK for us.

Eventually, I figure I'll sell the two DRI weeks and the Grand Regency week. I'd rather take the MF's I'm paying on the DRI weeks and use that to pay for a cruise once per year and we just don't really need that Grand Regency week but, it's so inexpensive to keep right now. Only time will tell what I'll really do as turning lose of anything can be tough for me. Especially if I'm still finding ways to get usage out of what I own.

Casitas Del Monte in Palm Springs
I really appreciate this kind of info. Boca's great assessment based on availability & such is also very helpful. In fact everyone has given their choices and said WHY which really gives us good insight on resorts we may have not considered.

You know, the reviews both here and OY are nice but I find them hard to wade through to find the not so fancy places that appeal to me more than the ones with lots of bells & whistles. I find it interesting that many posters OWN really top quality resorts but their favs to rerturn to are not necessarily those deluxe places.

Since I live in Miami my favorite places that I keep going back to are in Orlando my DVC (OKW and BWV are my favorites), and Hollywood beach. Enchanted Isle is my favorite spot. Not because it's fancy or anything but because my unit is right on the sand on a very nice beach and it's non-pretentious. It's like I am thrown back to 1950's Florida and can escape the city life for a while. I also keep going back to Lahaina Inn in Fort Myers beach because I've been going there for more than 30 years since I was a child and just love the area.

We return to most by design

We purchased our timeshares specifically because we planed to return there year after year. In every case but one it has turned out that way. Our original, Cypress Pointe Resort in Orlando, remains our favorite and we are usually there a couple times each year (one week can be split into 14 days of use thanks the lockoff). It also trades really well so on the few occasions we did trade it it has got us great stays in hard to get locations such as SF in July. Our Cape Cod week at The Cove at Yarmouth is a fixed week - mid summer we use as our "summer cottage". We've only missed one year since buying it and that was for an outstanding trade. Both have exceeded our expectations.

Our Wyndham is based in Williamsburg, we have stayed there, but that system is meant to be used at multiple resorts and that is exactly how we've used it. Same with our RCI Points resort (we have never even seen it).

Our only mistake - and its a BIG mistake - was Westgate. It started out fine, we did buy resale (THANK HEAVENS!) but the horrible management and ever increasing fees with total lack of owner input soured us. While we still get value out thanks to RCI Points it is the one we would still sell. Hopefully we'll unload it fairly soon.

So yes, we return to our ownerships and enjoy every trip. No exchange cost or worries of trades we just use what we own easily.

I own two weeks at La Vista in SXM and have never traded them

For trades, we keep going back to Italy but different TS.

In our 21 years of timesharing, there are only 3 resorts that we have visited more than once. Generally speaking, we do not like to go back to the same location. However, we have visited the Grand Mayan - Riviera Maya 4 times in the last 4 years and it is our favorite resort. New York City is our favorite destination but we were not too impressed with the Manhattan club when we stayed there last year. We will go back to New York probably next year but may stay in a hotel in mid-Manhattan instead of the MC. Last year, we stayed at the Michelangelo which is a luxury 4* boutique hotel located on 51st Street and 7th Avenue. We really loved the Michelangelo.

Our favorite is Pacific Grove Plaza. We call it our second home. It only has 16 units, very large, I might add, We own two weeks there and take advantage of bonus time whenever we can. There is underground secured parking. The manager has been there from the beginning in the early 80's. When we call, they know us by name.

Pacific Grove is a small town on the Monterey peninsula and is only 2.5 hours from us. During the heat of summer in our area, it is only in the 60's in Pacific Grove. It is much warmer in the winter as well.

There are 25-30 restaurants within walking distance. There is a paved walk along the ocean all the way to Cannery Row and the Wharf. All along the walk there are benches overlooking the ocean if we decide to stop and enjoy the scenery or watch the seals and otters at play.

We usually drive down Hwy 1 to Big Sur and have lunch at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. We never tire of the area........just gorgeous!

Our second favorite is The Welk Resort in Escondido. The units are spacious and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful. There are two golf courses on site. We usually go down with extended family in January. The par 3 is a fun course to play with grandchildren. The pool with the water slide is a favorite of theirs. We love sitting on the balcony watching the golfers. San Diego and the ocean are a short drive away. But mostly we just relax at our unit.

My answer to this question is totally dependent on proximity. Since I live in Houston, there aren't too many close by resorts.

However, the Wyndham La Cascada and Worldmark New Braunfels are the two resorts where I would return again and again because of frequent trips to San Antonio and Austin. Both are upscale accomodations with plenty of fun things for the family to do in both locations.

Of the several resorts I have visited in the west and east, I would like to return to Wyndham Flagstaff. I really liked that city.
