...that absolutely amazed you, either for good or bad, when you arrived to the timeshare?

One thing that absolutely amazes me is the amount of people on this site who love the Tortuga Morrits in Crand Cayman.
It is without doubt the worst resort I've ever stayed at (Apart from the snorkeling). The 1 bedroom we stayed at was totally bland, the prices for food and drink on the resort were through the roof, everytime it rained the T.V reception went off, I don't normally watch TV but when it rained there was zero else to do as it's a 40 minute drive from civilization and resort activities were limited. And then at the end of the vacation they have the nerve to ask you to pay for the Hydro you use during your stay.
It went on my list of places never to revisit.

My sister owned at Villa del Palmar in Puerto Vallarta before I owned any timeshares. She couldn't go one year so we decided to go and pay her MFs.
I could NOT believe this was a 5* resort in Interval! The room was so outdated.
The other one that was a huge disappointment was Orange Lake Country Club. They put us in the west village in a pre-renovated 2BDRM overlooking the moonscape of the being redone golfcourse. After all the raves we had heard and the RCI rep assuring us how much we would love the place...no wonder that Holiday Inn broke it down into 4 villages.
Otherwise all is perfection in timeshare land but we have so many people to ask and places to go to for reviews. Including here!Lawren

I was astonished at the poor condition of Dover Watch at Mt Snow. I think I left a review... of course it might not stop me from returning
I will never forget my reaction the first time I stayed at Grande Ocean. It was our first t/s stay, and I traded in knowing nothing about Hilton Head, but it was all I could get with my late deposit of the Marriott in Orlando (Gold week I bought without knowing better, but at least it was resale). Needless to say we were WOWed. Mostly because it was our first timeshare and it was so great. Since then my standards and expectations have been adjusted accordingly..
I am one of the annoying Morritt's fans, but it still stands out for me as outstanding. All the things KentonMag said are true, though I think most units have been or are in the process of being refurbed, the Grand units are beautiful, the beach/snorkeling is unsurpassed, and I really like being away from it all. I agree it's not the best location for people who like to be near "the action," and some of the management policies are irritating.
I loved Kona Hawaiian Resort so much I bought a unit there after trading in. The other Hawaii resort that blew me away was Hanalei Bay Resort - we rented a 2 bedroom there, had a view of Bali Hai to absolutely die for... I would buy there if I could. We spent more time on the lanai there than anywhere, it was just so breathtaking.

Great places
I am new to the forum, so here goes. We love the KBR in Maui and Lake Tahoe resort, both Diamond. The worst was Sea Mountain on Hawaii and that was only because it is so remote with very few grocery stores of resturants near. Otherwise, a nice place and great hiking at the Volcano.

Several resorts in Mexico because they are on the beach and have very lush landscaping because of the climate. This is what we also liked at the Marriott's Maui Ocean Club when we first entered that resort and we said
We haven't seen that many timeshare resorts in comparison to most of you so cannot really judge.

I think the most amazing response I've had yet to a timeshare was Alpine Bay because I just could not fathom why on earth they put a timeshare there in the middle of nowhere with nothing around to do but golf. It was the weirdest place. Beautiful countryside surrounding the area but honestly in the middle of nowhere. I guess for a city girl like me it was just spooky coming into the resort at 10pm after driving all day only to find a pitch black area with no street lights and no welcome sign out front. Maybe had I arrived in the daytime I would have felt differently but we drove all that way so we stuck it out and I'm glad we did but I don't think I'd go back again.

Our very first timeshare stay was at Marriott Waiohai...I wanted to move in!
Since then I have stayed at some very nice other places, but nothing will ever compare to that first stay...was definitely WOW!
I haven't had a bad stay yet...I've had bad personal circumstances while staying at a t/s resort but so far there hasn't been a place I wouldn't recommend.

I was very impressed with the huge statues in the darkened entry of the Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta.
Also, the lobby and registration desk at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. It is scented with lavender vanilla and feels and looks more like a European church or palace.
