  • For those who bring their families (and/or extended families)...with kids

What do you look forward to sharing in the way of play during your week with the family at your TS?
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

    To show them the country....

Our "kids" are 18 & 20, and still enjoy travelling with mom and dad.(most likely because we're buying!) We leave for Hawaii this Saturday, and they both are excited to see our 50th state. We hope to snorkel, hike, bike, sail, maybe surf, and enjoy all there is to see.

We have really enjoyed seeing the museums and art galleries in New York, London and Paris with our kids (Now 20 + 17). Although not typical timeshare destinations, these urban vacations have been great. We also enjoyed the sights of San Francisco and Phoenix and look forward to adding Boston and New Orleans to the mix.
I hadn't realized how many of our timeshare stays were city-oriented until now!
The kids loved hiking on Vancouver Island and Kauai and took surfing lessons at both.
Probably their favorite activity was the Pink Jeep Tour in Sedona!

We've always enjoyed swimming and bicycling together, urban sightseeing and theme parks, national or state park exploring, hiking and picnics in the woods, by waterfalls or on the beach. Campfires are fun where available; so are sunset walks. We generally do the same kinds of things on vacations without the kids. When they were younger, we tried to participate more in resort pool parties and resort bingo or other activities geared toward the young ones.

For rainy days or a game night in our condo, with kids along, we also bring along Phase 10 cards, Poker & Pinochle cards, Apples-To-Apples and Rummicub. Many resorts also have board games available for borrowing. Love to have a fire in a fireplace and good music, when possible, especially in cooler weather. The only times we usually get a game night together is at major holidays and while on vacation.

When the kids have brought along friends, they've usually loved game nights and asked for more! Now that all ours are grown, they spend more time apart during a week's vacation with us. But they still want at least one marathon game day or evening together like this during a week.

A lot of the stuff Lisa P. talked about. Hangin' out kinda stuff, time to talk. Walking on the beach or in the woods. At bedtime sometimes Hubby makes up stories with the younger ones - they get to tell him which of their stuffed animals will star in the tale and it's a generally collaborative effort, and if I don't get my act together and video tape that sometime soom the kids are all going to be too old for it and that would be sad.

My kids are just young teens now, but we have travelled and will continue to travel together often. My hope is that as they grow up and have their own families, we can continue this as a tradition that will keep us all close in this crazy world. I hope to do the same things as time goes by that we enjoy doing now. We love doing the usual vacation activities together, hanging out at the pool, dinner out, golf, walking the beach etc. My daughter and I also share a disney bond that my husband and sons just do not have, so I hope to continue on that road. Just being together and not being in such a hurry all the time is what makes it special.

Timeshare condos are just ideal for that. When we were at the Marriott Waiohai once, I watched the families play together plus I watched grand parents watching the grandchildren too while the parents were enjoying some time for themselves but would join up later again. It brings a family closer together.

A 2 or 3 BR timeshare condo has a lot of advantages over a single or a few separate hotel rooms.

Your trips sound exactly like ours, right down to the ages of the "kids".
