  • Should I Purchase Marriott Shadow Ridge Resale?

I am new to the forum as of today and I was hoping to get some advice. And I apologize if this topic has been addressed in a previous thread.

I am on the verge of purchasing a 2br / 2ba at the Marriott Shadow Ridge (lockout / gold season) for approximately $6K. My family (wife and 2 year old) visited this Marriott and loved the pool area for our daugther. So my hope is to trade the master bedroom for our week long vacation (Orlando, etc.) and use the remaining week in the studio for two long weekends.

So, based on your experiences, will this suit my needs? Or does anyone have a recommendation for a better alternative? I am new to the timeshare world and any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I am not an expert on Marriott

But I am pretty sure that you can't split the unit into partial weeks.
You can lock it out and have 2 weeks of vacation, your idea to trade one sounds right, but unless this is something very special you can only use the other portion for a weeks stay, or trade it for a weeks stay.

    jmho,

He may be referring to Interval's short stay exchanges.

        Interval Short Stay

I am not actually familiar with Interval. Is this how I would trade? Sorry again, I am a complete newbie.

          You are new!

Spend time in the Marriott forums and learn as much as possible to ensure you will use the ownership. It's a great time to be a buyer, as prices are lower than I've ever seen- but you still don't want to commit to a lifetime of annual fees unless you are confident you understand and can consistently use the timeshare..

          Good luck and enjoy!

            As to the price

This one just closed on Ebay for $4426 plus costs Marriott's Shadow Ridge, GOLD Season 2 Bdrm Lockout - eBay (item 250437115015 end time Jun-10-09 21:00:00 PDT)

So back to basics. The Marriott chain of resorts does not have internal trading, so that means that unless you want to use your reserved week, you will need to use a 3rd party trading company. Many Marriott owners prefer to use Interval International.

You may also use any of the independent companies, like Trading Places, Hawaii Timeshare Exchange, San Francisco Exchange, etc.

Each of these has their own special area of service, and may or may not be good for you.

Trading a week, simply means you give your week to a trade company, and select one of theirs that another owner deposited.

Like I said earlier, I don't believe that you can trade your studio side for 2 long weekends, just another comparable week.

Welcome to the learning curve, it is pretty steep to start out, but you will get it of you stick around and keep reading.

            fwiw,

            Greg
