  • When do you prefer to take your timeshare vacations

As the summer months heat up, kids are out of schools and high vacation season is upon us, it strikes me that most timeshare owners a different sort of traveler who might not follow the typical trends of one week's worth of vacation in the heat of the summer. So when do you take your timeshare vacations?

As for us, we find ourselves on vacation every other month at this time. Summer is probably our least favorite because of he heat and the crowds. If we can, we'll head up into the mountains where it's at least cooler. Our favorite times to travel would be the spring and fall. The weather's cooler and the crowds are lighter. Winter time we're looking for someplace warm in an attempt to avoid to much cabin fever and escape the midwestern cold and relentless Kansas winds.

So how about you. When do you prefer to your timeshare vacations to get away from it all?

We've always gone when the kids are out of school so that our children could come with us. We've also taken a few timeshare trips on our own, and at some point in time our vacations may stop being tied to the school calendar.

Ideally, we like to take a vacation in each season......It's great to get out of the cold in the winter.....Spring and Fall are good times to travel because the crowds are down, prices are better, and it's easier to get reservations.....Summer is crowded, but it's still fun to visit a nice beach location, mingle with friends, and get some rays.

BTW....You didn't have every season as a choice.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We go anytime of year. If the kids are in school, we usually stay close to home for long weekends so they don't need to miss any days.

Spring and Fall. Less crowded and the weather is just as great if not better.

We homeschool and don't like crowds, so anytime but summer pretty much. There's a ton of local stuff to do around here in the summer anyhow - festivals and re-enactments and seminars and whatnot, plus some nice beaches on Lake Michigan.

I thought I'd try and keep it simple with limited choices. Don't forget, I did ask when do you "prefer" to go on vacation. Not when do you actually go on vacation. As I posted, we go pretty much every other month right now so, we're hitting every season with at least one vacation. My favorite time's though are shoulder season. Keep in mind that shoulder season can be different times of the year for different places. Next month we'll be in Breckenridge, CO. According to I.I.'s demand index, demand for Breck is relatively low in July.

OK, that's true, you did say "prefer" to go on vacation.

I'm still stuck tho between getting out of the cold, so winter, or summer fun in the sun.

Chose WINTER because it's when I get the most antsy to travel.

Ideally, we spend a winter week somewhere warm with friends and family, everyone (don't have any young or school-aged children in the mix) so we usually get a couple units for this trip and the college kids are able to join us if they want.

Plus, we like to take 1 late spring and 1 early fall trip with friends and/or family or just as a couple. The weather here in the NC Smoky Mtns is gorgeous in summer and we don't care for huge tourist crowds at the beach or at attractions either. So summer is our least favorite time to vacation.

I said winter cause it gets cold here in Phoenix in the winter. Nights have been know to get to 45 above zero hereabouts.

We will take our first summer vacation in 8 years next year when we flee the July heat for (hopefully) the cool Maine coast. After that, I could be changing my answer.

Nights get down to 45? That's still sitting by the pool weather for us.

It's funny because we've been to Scottsdale in January to escape the cold of the midwest. while it's not really pool weather, I can still be found in shorts and and t-shirt. I absolutely LOVED Scottsdale in January and we hope to return sometime in the future.

I know what you mean. I find that anytime is a GREAT time to vacation somewhere on this planet. So many places but not enough money or time to see them all. But I'm desperately trying to see as many as I can.
