  • Like, Same time next year....

One of the nice surprises of owning timeshares is the discovery of new friends. Many of us have made friends while visiting at our home resorts, when we have returned year after year, and some of us have made a friend or two during a "once only" visit.

I am talking about long term friends...not just the folks you share a quick drink with, during the ts week but then we never see again...but rather the kind that you find yourself keeping in touch with thru the years.

Of course, here at the forums, we have developed friendships....some of us have met in person, others feel like we know each other, even though we have not met personally. This is not the group of friends I am referring to either.

Have you met people along your timesharing journeys that are now part of your extended family of friends?

    Yes!
I met a couple of ladies at a timeshare near Lake Tahoe, a few years back. Then they invited me to join them in Colorado the next year. I already had plans so I couldn't make it. They invited me again the following year to meet up with them in Big Sky, Montana. We had a great time. One of the ladies and I hit it off extremely well, and last year we met up for a week at Harborside at Atlantis. She lives in Massachusetts, while I am in California. She came by and took me out to lunch while I was staying in the Berkshires this summer. She's a really great gal. I am sure she and I will be traveling together again in the future.

...you have the same spouse? and you only recently met...

We too have made some friends along our timesharing way...we especially love going back to Aruba because of the friends who greet us there.

We are looking forward to November because for the first time some of our friends from Aruba will be coming here, and we will host them for part of their trip....should be fun.

We've been using our fixed week at Smugglers since we bought in 1997.
Met a couple that first summer who we consider friends. We get together for dinner few times during the year, and look forward to meeting up with them during our Smugglers' week.

Since that time we've added another 2 couples to the group. We all basically do our own thing during the day, meeting up at night.

Smugglers has adult activities in the evening ( a comedian, singing, magic, hypnosis shows); we meet early so we can get a table so we can all sit together, and enjoy each other's company while waiting for the show to start.

My first visit to the Bahamas at Taino Beach I met a young saleslady named Gaynell. We went out and toured the island and did the same when I went back about three years later. I just returned from there and she's still there, 25 yrs later, promoted to sales manager and again we went out and laughed and talked like it was just yesterday. What a great gal. shaggy
