We are looking at Dominican Republic for 1st time as reports from everyone suggest some excellent resorts and most are very family orientated.
One problem is that 80% are All Inclusive but the costs for AI's are much less in Dominican that in Mexico or other places.
I have picked out a couple of All Inclusive (Optional) resorts that have 5 star reviews you may want to research.
RCI #5476 - MVC at Melia Caribe Tropical and RCI #4119 MVC at Paradisus Punta Cana.
There are 71 resorts covered by RCI in the Dominican but you don't say whether you are a Points or Weeks owner?

check out Massanutten. It is an easy trade through RCI if you plan ahead. The resort web site is Massanutten Resort: A Four Season Resort Located in the Beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia

Did you go the AI route or the optional route? How were the prices, for food and drink, if you do take the optional route?

We took the AI route. Make reservations before you leave. We could not get into the Japanese steakhouse.
