Just so you all know this is my Cousin who works in the timeshare industry. I am not saying what area he works or who he is or what company he works for.

Who would give RCI Weeks any time of value at this point?

It looks like step one to a rename of RCI as primarily a rental, not exchnage, operation. To many (including me) it looks like that change at RCI Weeks happened years ago and changing the name is just acknowledging a done deal. There is no way I'd give a week of any real value to RCI Weeks as they will simply turn around and rent it never allowing those who want a trade a fair chance at it and of course offering me only junk in eventual return. RCI Weeks is a dead system as far as I'm concerned.

I assume the opposite of changing the name to protect the innocent.

You mean they're keeping the name to harm the guilty?
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

              “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Doesn't any find it odd that there is nothing about this on the groupRCI.com website?

I agree. I just confirmed one of the last 3 weeks I have on deposit with them to an unrated resort. Although it is to the location and for the dates I wanted, I'm getting a no-frills, no-amenities resort in exchange for a gold crown deposit. Anything that is even remotely appealing appears to be in their rental pool.

I have been looking for a certain resort in Austria that is in their rental pool for $494, but not available for exchange for the range of dates that I want. With exchange fees that are almost $200, why would anyone deposit a week to them in this type of scenario?

I lost my week last year and am losing it again this year because my searches have failed to produce a half decent exchange where and when I want to go for last 3 years. (And all my requests are for off season travel periods). They will never get another deposit from me!!!

When that happens I try to book a week end close by so it is not all lost,

I feel your pain....and encourage all who have been using RCI to re-evaluate and research other alternatives.

And for new folks, who want to buy a TS, don't buy one that you "intend" to use for exchanging...buy one where you want to go every year, and if you want to exchange it, you should seek out the other exchange companies, like HTSE, Trading Places, DAE, or SFX and Platinum.

RCI or Wyndham....the name may change, but the smell still stinks rotten!
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Since my experience is very limited, I'm not familiar with the companies you mentioned nor do I have any experience with RCI. However, as a DRI member, I have had a great experience with II and the arrangement they have with DRI.
