All of the above, but I voted for meeting new people who love to travel. My husband and family members don't share my passion for travel, so it's great to connect with others that get it.

We enjoy traveling to different resorts off season.

Voted "It's easier to travel with family & friends... "

For us, it's just more affordable to take extended family vacations with a timeshare (more living space with the ability to eat in and pack light). When it's just me and my hubby, a hotel room is plenty of room for us.

My sentiments exactly -- purchase where you love going each year.

We were never interested in Timeshares because we didn't care to vacation for a full week somewhere (rarely works out right for us), and because we knew we DIDN'T want to stay in the same place every year.

Which is why we have Bluegreen points. But the underlying ownership is in a place we wouldn't mind hitting once a year if it came to that, and I do agree it's good advice to buy where you'd like to stay. For us, we also wanted a place close enough it wouldn't be a hardship to stay at - I know a lot of people who got good use of their Florida TS ownership when they were younger but now don't care to drive that far and are unhappy with its trading power.

I maybe should have voted on the villas, because having our own kitchen is crucial to enjoyable vacations, but OTOH we wouldn't be able to enjoy it if we weren't going, so I voted on the "vacation every year" thing. We never vacationed before and haven't timeshared long so that's still uppermost in my mind - paying that yearly fee motivates us to make use of it, and it's definitely good for us.

Interesting. ONly 10 (9%) selected great value for the cost, and the first is luxury villa.

Put it this way. TS properties are far from luxurious. I can find resorts of world class easily, but not in TSing though, if I am willing or able to afford it.

I love Tsing because of the minimal cost for the value I receive. With the knowledge from this web site, I am paying like 50 or 60 dollars per night for a one bedroom or two bedroom. That is I am paying Motel 6 but enjoying "luxury".

The extra space and kitchen to make breakfast and a snack at night. Ability to stay a while and see more of the area.

Ability to exchange and the quality of the resorts

Though I have barely used my timeshare (and thus am seeking to sell it), the few times I did use it a few years back I did like that I could exchange it for other resorts and that the accomodations were lovely and really felt "homey" moreso than a hotel room.

Additionally, the activities at the resort offered entertainment that made it enjoyable when we decided to just hang around the resort property on a "slow" day during the vacation.

My family didn't vacation for years. I don't know how it happened. Four years had just suddenly gone by and we hadn't really GONE anywhere for a longer trip than a couple of days.

Buying a timeshare forces us to take the time we're supposed to take as a family. That alone is worth the investment.
