Looking at the products in my own relative price order:
JW Marriott, Marriott, & Renaissance brands are full service hotels with commensurate higher prices & wider services, especially bars & restaurant(s) -- no free Internet here unless you gain access to the CL. A pricier product, but one might find "deals" here in a relative sense if your travel plans are definite & you grab pay in advance rates.
Spring Hill Suites is the next tier down in the hotel product line from the full-service hotels. By their own words SHS offers 25% larger rooms ( studio-sized suites ), free Internet, & in-room microwave, fridge & BF nook. A modest free breakfast buffet is served at SHS.
Courtyard a more modest hotel product than SHS, while offering free internet access & a new spread out & relax public area. Food service is not quite cafeteria style, but it too is of limited scope and there is a charge -- unless you are MR platinum ( and I think MR gold -- other TUGgers might help clarify this as I am not 100% sure about this ) .
Fairfield Inn is the final tier of what I call the Marriott hotel product. Rooms are . . . well, they're like a hotel room ( or an MVC lock-off ). Free Internet and free wifi here as well as free continental BF.
Residence Inns are a quasi hotel product & a quasi timeshare sort of product intended for those who want to spread out a bit or those business folks doing extended stays. Rooms are suites or 1-2 BR units. Full kitchen, full fridge etc. BF is free here and most RIs also have "social hours" 4 weeknights a week serving modest dinner fare, wine/beer.
Towne Place Suites is the other Marriott en-suite product. It too offers larger living space for extended stay folks and a full kitchen. Complementary wireless Internet. No BF served here.
