Did belong-don't belong. I very much don't like the idea where shoppers need to pay to come inside to look. I don't support that type of business.

I've been a member of Redweek for years before getting active on these forums, maybe 10 years. I used to rent alot from owners of Wyndhams & SW Florida beach & Royal resort owners. Now that I've been active on the forums here, TUG and Mouseowners, I haven't renewed my membership and can't say how good the exchanges are with them.

I did advertise a timeshare for sale once on the site but it didn't sell. This was way before the tanking of the market. I was probably the second cheapest TS in that building at the time. I did have alot of inquiries but nothing ever materialized.

I think it's a good site and gets alot of traffic. They do alot of advertising.

When they started out they used to be free but then like alot of sites they started charging. I paid it for a few years and then decided the value was no longer there for me to have to pay for the info anymore. I agree with you. They are limiting the buyer pool by charging the lookie loos.

I let my membership go after about four years. Wasn't bad for $9.95 a year but now they seem to nickel and dime you to death. Never had result in two years of running rental ad plus they raised that amount too!

Many of the people I enjoyed dealing with on Redweek left for reasons I won't get into here.

I just feel they over priced their service or lack of service and never found the exchange system to be worth my time or money.

I had considered a membership, but decided not to because I can usually find what I'm looking for here or elsewhere for free.

I like it as I've been able to find cheaper rentals, resales and exchanges.

                It works for my needs.

I was a member at one time when was free and renewed once to rent out a summer beach week that did not generate any response. Had better response with graigslist. I would not renew again. I also do not agree with their model to pay in order to look for a rental when I get them elsewhere for free.

newbie to the timeshare rental market..going it alone without middle man

i keep seeing people say they are able to find plenty of people using these type of sites, timeshare forum, craigslist and other "free" areas where people are openly renting/selling their timeshare units without paying a middle man, yet i am not really finding a lot of action. is that market really that bad? or am i just not looking on the right sites or posting my timeshare rental in the right places?

I have posted rentals at two different times. One did rent, but not from a contact through Redweek. The second one never rented even though it was a Christmas week in Orlando. I will let me membership lapse when it comes due.

I've belonged to Redweek for years, part of the cost of being in the resale industry.. It has always been more effective in my view for rentals than for sale ads.

Redweek has always had a good reputation, although perhaps that is because so many of the other choices are bad..

The key to selling or renting in this market is simply pricing..

And the best pricing advice I've heard recently came from Flo Rida- "..gotta be low low low low, low low low ..."

                          renting low, low, low...

                          thanks for your reply.
do you mean "rent" lower than my maintenance fee? or start at what I owe and see what I get? i have no idea what to even begin at or what the market bears...
