    cheese spreads

I had brought a cheese spread in my carryon for a snack with crackers, and they confiscated the cheese spread. Not a liquid or a gel, so I thought I was OK.....or maybe he was hungry. Since the airlines started charging for food, I always bring along my meal, but I guess I'd better try something else.

My checked luggage has been opened a number of times, and I have no idea if it is random or they see something that looks suspicious to them. I try to carry with me anything valuable because I really don't trust them if they saw what seemed like a good opportunity to snatch something.

I always allow extra time since it's impossible to anticipate when someone ahead of me is stopped (or several somebodies), eating up the time. Sometimes they do designate lines for frequent travelers (not business class), but those who know the ropes, and that helps.

Just once and as a relatively regular/experienced air traveler I usually have the process down to a quick pass through the scanner & go. Not too long ago I was in line & they asked a simple question "What is this?" about my bottle of prescription pain medication. Apparently I looked down and paused too long before replying (as I recall I was rather tired and didn't even realize they had asked a question for a few moments). Anyway it triggered a major shake down & total search of my two pieces of carry on luggage and a private, out of line body search. Quite an experience!

My advice is to stay in focus with what they are doing and asking or risk a 20-30 minute delay while they make sure you're not trying to carry something on board you shouldn't. No fun.

I had two brand new purses taken from my checked luggage traveling from San Francisco in January.

Did you file a claim? With your airlines or TSA?

              My claim was accepted!

We had a letter in the mail yesterday from TSA saying that our claim for the stolen heart rate monitor was accepted and that they would be sending a cheque for the full amount! I am amazed...

We have major problems lately going through security. My husband has some type of filter in his body plus he wears a brace so cannot take off his shoes. On top of that he carries a sleep apnea machine that has to be taken out of the case now to be inspected which I have to take care of.

They take him in a separate room and really check him out. They touch him everywhere and then they do it again and once more plus they use a gadget for his shoes and in the meantime, I have to gather all his stuff and mine and put his sleep apnea machine back together plus my notebook too. By that time, he is still not through but he takes it all in stride.

If it wasn't for our security, I would be screaming bl--dy murder but I just take it too and hope that they will find a terrorist that way too, if one passes through one day.

                We still want to travel.

That's good to hear. Someone taking responsibility for something.
