Lamberts is fun and almost a must-do.

With the pass-arounds, they will set more food in front of you than you should eat in a week. It is all-you-can-eat and most people think there is no splitting/sharing meal.

You can . . . you just don't get all-you-can-eat. & we still have more then we can eat.

Don't go with the crowd . . . try between lunch and dinner.

The rolls are very good to eat, too. Many tour buses would stop there, since if it just off of I 55 and US 60. During prime times, there was always a wait to get seated.

As was mentioned the restaurant in the Bass Pro Shop is very good.

It really depends on your timing from your flight and drive from St. Louis. It is about 220 miles from the airport to Springfield, but it is all Interstate Highways.
We land in St. Louis around 4:30 and I was figuring it will take 4 hours to get to Branson. Am I right? I doubt we'll stop on the way down as I don't want to drive in the pitch dark. BTW, do they have street lights? I went to Alabama a few years ago and arrived at the resort at 10pm and it was darker than dark. No street lights anywhere and lots of two land country roads. I don't want a repeat of that. We were going to Alpine Bay, AL. Hopefully it's not like that. I'm assuming not since Branson looks like Kissimmee with the neon lights, but how is it on the way down?

Thanks for the alternatives as 30 miles is doable and we can maybe combine it with a day trip to see something in the area. Any suggestions of things to see in Siketon?

We've always enjoyed it though. You have to enjoy big portions of 'country' style cooking for it to suit your taste.
I'm all for lots of southern comfort food and sweet tea. I can't eat much southern cooking here in Miami anymore. We have places still that make soul food (in the hood) but good BBQ is almost impossible to find here unless you like it with citrus marinade Spanish style which I do, but I miss my American BBQ too. Luckily I work in a hospital in the hood and still get a taste every now and then of what is left of the American food in Miami.

The price I pay for living in this foreign country. Most of the Americans left and took their BBQ recipes with them.

My favorite BBQ is Famous Dave's, and there is one in Branson Landing.

2nd Place here is probably Rib Crib.

          3rd, Odee's.

Yeah, this would be another reason my sister didn't suggest we go there. Neither of us eats like that.

We have not done Lamberts in awhile, and although we generally are not fond of human feedlots (Golden Corral comes to mind), Lambert's food is good and it is a fun place. If it was not, it would not have survived and prospered as it has . . . novelty acts are short-lived.

We split a meal and exercise self restraint.

Then we don't eat for a few days.

When we travel from Minneapolis to Branson, we overnight in KC and I look for good Kansas City BBQ. Found a great one last time. Will need to research for our July 30th stop.

When we were last in Branson, we were told of a new BBQ place that was really great. When we found out it was Famous Dave's, we laughed. They are based here (Minneapolis) so it wasn't something we were going to try. At home, yes, but not when we have driven two days to get there, we are going for the good local food, not our neighborhood food.

I want to in no way imply that Famous Dave's is not good food. They are very good. I just want to try new things when I am out and about.

Wow! This is just like the Branson forum . . . lots of food talk there.
