  • Going to Hershey......

This seems like such a "splurge" trip. Quite simply....I am not use to paying $300+ a night for a room after timesharing for last few years! But, it is my 40th and I am going for it.

We will have our 4 year old with us. Of course Hershey park will be on the to do list and I am going to spend a day at the Spa. But, what else is recommended. How about restaurants in the area.

Anyone have any cost saving ideas?

Happy 40th, When we go to Hershey we stay about 3-4 miles away and pay about $100 a night. We have not been there in years but I think in a year we might go back. If you have the time look into driving to Dorney park the lines used to be very short there,

When are you going? Are you staying at the Suites at Hershey?

        Next week.
Staying at the Hotel Hershey. But, watching the suites to see if anything opens up next week.

          Score!
I have been watching BG direct rentals. Found a unit at the Suites for the 4 nights. Half the cost of the Hotel Hershey. After staying in TS for so many trips now the idea of a regular size hotel room with a 4 year old just doesn't seem to cut it anymore. I'm sure the hotel is awesome - but this is a win in my book!

My brother (confirmed bachelor) is in the area for business and will be watching our daughter while we are the concert. (BTW did I mention BonJovi 6th row!! So silly - but I feel like an excited teenager!) He now has a BR so he can stay with us and doesn't need to worry about being quiet ~ sitting in a hotel room after she falls asleep.

Just love it when a plan comes together. We vacation alot, but this certainly is a trip that I am VERY much looking forward to!!!!

              Mdurette,

Do you need to be BG owner to get direct rentals or there is some kind of public website? We went there a few years ago and since then my 12 yo keeps asking to go again.

              Thank you,
              Vicky

What is the direct rentals site?

I'm a Bluegreen owner but I don't know about this!

                Thanks,

                Anita

If you have time, go to the Hershey gardens. It's very pretty there and many of the spring flowers should be blooming. If you have any interest in history, the Hershey museum is next to the entrance of the park. There are typically many discounted offers for Hershey park. So you shouldn't have to pay full price for the admission. They used to have an offer that if you could get in free after a certain time if you paid for the next day's ticket. Have fun. We love Hershey Park. Haven't been there in several years since I started buoycotting Hershey products due to moving most of their operations to Mexico.

Wow, I just checked online for the dates I need and it shows nothing available from June til next year January. Can it be that popular or is just that owners haven't deposited their weeks yet? Maybe the online method isn't as good as we'd like to believe. I think I'll call too. Thanks.

I have been watching this site for about 2 weeks now. It only has been showing availablity for about 7 days out. My guess it is last minute stuff they are trying to fill.

But, a I mentioned before. The phone call got the 4 nights I needed. Online availablity only showed 3 nights.

Guess it might be good for last minute changes such as mine.

Keep in mind the idea of renting from a Bluegreen owner!

Lots of Bluegreen owners (including myself) would work with people on a direct exchange or rental at Hershey.

Since Bluegreen is a points system, you can do a partial week if you desire rather than a full week. Premier Bluegreen owners can get on the wait list up to 14 months in advance of travel date.

Reservations are made at 11 months out for full or partial weeks.
