  • Messed up my car reservation......

I'm just sitting here printing out all my reservations so I have them in hand when I leave. Just noticed I put the return on my car to be 1:30 AM - should have been 1:30 PM!!!

I tried to modify and the cost of the reservation went up by $240!!!! Holy Crap. Looked all all other companies and am getting that same total $450 cost. Tried every coupon and discount I know.

Question.....should I just let this ride and see what happens? How can it can any worse???

Usually the car rentals are for 24 hours periods. So if the return time is in the same 24 hour period, then IMHO there shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe someone else has had experience with this and can share what happened to them.

I would just leave it for now. Explain it at the counter, and they'll likely take pity on you (leave out the cost difference for a new reservation). It's likely that if they won't work with you, the cost of the rental at the counter won't be any worse than the new reservation.

And if they won't work with you at the counter, move to a different counter and rent the car from someone else.

I have changed times several times when my pick up time changed and every time, the return time has been set based on 24 hour periods from my pick up time.

I also suspect that the rental car counter will not even be open at 1:30 AM.

But for those of us that find cars on priceline or similar and prepay, we can't walk counter to counter. But then, I haven't felt bad about my online deals either. Well, maybe Fox rental in San Fran. That was so far off site that it was a real pain to get to it. Had to take 2 shuttle busses.

I would just leave it and explain when you get there. If worst comes to worst, I'd say they will just charge you for an extra day, if it goes over the 24 hour mark. If not, the price should remain the same.
