  • Visiting a Natiional or State Park with kids this summer?

Do you know about the Junior Ranger program? My kids are a little old for this now-but they have participated previously in this program. Most notably at The USS Arizona Memorial (Pearl Harbor) I'll never forget my then 7 yr old being "sworn in" and given his Junior Ranger badge.

I was reminded of it when we visited Volcanoes National Park last week. They made a really big deal...announced over a loud speaker in the visitor's center...when a child passed their "exam" Told all of us we could now officially ask them questions about the Park. Lot's of clapping going on.

    Excellent for kids 5-12.

Here is the website to see what's offered in the area you are visiting.

Interpretation and Education, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior

Thanks for the pointer. We are heading to Yellowstone this summer and will definitely check it out.
