        The Pennsville New Castle Ferry

Did you know that... Before there was the Delaware Memorial
Bridge, there was the Delaware River ferry system 1926-1951.

In 1926, New Castle-Pennsville Ferry started "Head-On" ferry crossings,
24-hours a day with 6 vessels of 206' length, each carrying up to 75 cars.

        It was advertised as
"The shortest and fastest route between New York and Washington".

Do you remember riding across the Delaware River in your
family car via The Pennsville - New Castle Ferry Steamer?
