Speaking of Delta......
Just got off the phone with DL about some FF tickets for our annual visit to Allen House.
As expected, the Delta Web Site is still one of the worst in existence. I found a low level miles Business Class ticket on Air France to CDG, a real shock. Tried to book it, screen showed "Sorry, sold out" or something similar. Went back again to flights, same flights showed up. Tried to book it and "Sorry, sold out" again. Sort of typical experience with the Award Calendar for Delta.Dumb.
After about three or four more round trips with the same result, I called the Elite desk and got a fantastic Rep who tried for several minutes to book the flights and had about as much success as I did. Since he was so helpful, I asked to speak to his Supervisor to give him a well deserved compliment for all of his efforts.
Supervisor got on the phone, I told him of the good experience with the Rep and the problems with the Web Site. The Supervisor nicely asked me what I was trying to do and I explained the failures of the Web Site and the Rep to book what appeared to be a good deal. The Supervisor asked me to hold on and he tried without success to book the Air France flight, even contacting Air France direct. He said hold on a little more and eventually he booked a round trip Business Class (on Delta but it is still at low miles).
Net result, a couple of "extra" days in Paris for the same basic cost as flying direct to the UK including Eurostar RT Paris-London because of the UK exorbitant fees and taxes I would have had to pay flying via LHR or LGW.
Moral, if the Delta web site fails, which is highly likely, try the phone and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Cheers

Though I've never experienced a bus diversion directly, it has happened to a few of my co-workers. I agree that the bus ride isn't the best way to go, but it beats getting stuck at the airport or on the runway for hours on end. And if the diversion is because of weather or mechanical problems, I'd rather put up with the diversion than risk a potentially unsafe flight.
