HOW MANY TIMESHARE COMPANIES CAN YOU BECOME MEMBER OF (i.e. RCI, Sfx)?

  • #2
For the most part, the number is only limited by how many will take your resort as a deposit.

Thanks, I was told by my the resort I own that I can only trade through RCI but I checked with several other companies that stated I can deposit my weeks with them. I think my resort has a deal with RCI and they just don't want me to use another company. Any suggestions?

That usually means that you can deposit with RCI but you can't deposit with II. Those are the big two and some resorts have agreements with both of them but most are one or the other. That has no bearing on the smaller companies like HTSE, Trading Places, SFX, DAE and Platinum Interchange.

Thanks for responding, I did ask can I deposit my week with SFX or DAE and their response to me was that I needed to purchase another membership. I don't buy it, I believe they just want more money. I have a membership with SFX but I don't know what good that will do if I can't deposit. Can they hold up my weeks like that?

No, and SFX will gladly assist you if they give you any trouble regarding using them as an exchange company as long as the resort you own is one that they accept as a deposit.

Thanks Philsfan, my resort is one that they will take my deposit from, in fact they opened a membership from me. I will call SFX and hopefully they can assist me in the deposit of my week from my home resort.

First make a reservation with your resort, because SFX will need your confirmation number. Once you log into SFX, click on the "Deposits" tab. That will take you to the form. Complete it, fax it to SFX and they will take it from there. Good luck. When you make your request, make it as broad as possible to the best success. For instance, request the whole month of August, rather than one specific week in August, if that is acceptable to you. Also, if you request "Big Island" or "Sedona" instead of a specific resort, they will have greater success in meeting your needs. Oh, and if you are specific and they find a close match, they will call and see if that will meet your needs.

                  Good luck!

I can't make a reservation with my home resort because they are stating that I can ONLY exchange with RCI although I have several red season/prime weeks that SFX and DAE will take. I am going to contact SFX and hopefully they can assist me.

You make a reservation as if you plan to use it yourself - you don't tell them anything about how you are going to use it. Then you follow the process I outlined above. I'm sure SFX will be happy to give you the instructions too.

Hi Ania... It is "illegal" for a timeshare resort to force it's Owners into using the service of any exchange company. (It violates Antitrust laws, specifically the Sherman Act). You have the legal right to request the service of any exchange company you want. Service is a separate and distinct market from product.

The instance you describe, is usually the result of uninformed and inexperienced rank and file reservation agents. Your resort has an official "affiliation" agreement with RCI... and a certain staff members are under the misguided impression you can only use RCI.

Please reserve a high season week in at least a 1 bedroom unit, then take that information and complete our online "deposit form"... and we will take care of the rest.

                        Hope this helps...

                        Thanks,
                        Mark @sfx
