I have a free flight award that expires May 26, 2011 and I am looking to book a flight May 27th. The fee to extend the award is $50. Has anyone had any luck getting an extension without the fee? Do you think talking to a supervisor might help since it is only one day past the expiration? Or should I just cough up the extra money? Flying a day earlier doesn't work in my situation. Thanks for any of your thoughts or advice. Charlie

My philosophy is, it never hurts to ask. SW is usually pretty easy to work with. They may stand by that date, but you won't know unless you call.
I also never believe the first person I talk to if I don't hear what I want to hear... stay kind and calm. No one wants to help or bend rules for a cranky person!

I have no idea if they will, or won't, extend without the fee. But I had a thought/question. I wonder what would happen if you booked your ticket for a date prior to the expiration, then changed it later? I have no idea if they would just let you make the change with no fees, or if they'd catch it at that point.Luanne

My guess is they won't allow.
But, this site is the place to ask the question...
