  • Weird mixup at Thrifty car rental

Picked up our Ford Fusion at SFO when we landed (note to self and others: do not rent a car at SFO, try to fly into Oakland instead, what a mess and a pain to pick up/drop off). Great car, happy campers, off and on our way.

Decided a few days in we wanted to drop it off a day early in another location. 40 minutes on the phone with less than helpful telephone customer service, says my contract is already closed. I finally gave up and hung up, kept the car and drove it back to SFO this morning. Upon return, they can't find the contract in the system. Another 20 minutes later, they finally figure out that the person at the key pickup counter gave us the keys for a different car than was on our contract. We had to leave without a receipt and now will have to watch the bills carefully. Funny thing is, that if they had our contract recorded as "closed," I probably could have driven cross country in my brand new Ford Fusion and never have been charged a thing

OY! What a way to start the day.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
