I know how fickle airfares are and I watch them consistently with trackers at kayak.com and travelocity and others. I have one route I continuously fly to visit octogenarian plus parents every other month, a 500 mile trip that usually costs between $500 and even $1000 (I can fly to Europe for less). I usually use FFmiles but there's little to be had because of holiday blackouts at Thanksgiving. All major east coast carriers US UA DL/NW CO serve the route through hubs and two have non-stop flights. Anyway, last night I found non-stop flights leaving Wednesday night returning Sunday over Thanksgiving for $240.40. Happy camper!

Originally posted by Glitter BrunelloIt has seemed, for quite some time, that the same fares published at any discount site are available through the carrier and other sites. The only difference seems to be the add-on service charges at some of the "discount" sites, so I just purchase directly from the carrier. The search engine sites like Kayak are great, since you get (almost) all the carriers/flights in one place.
