    US Air this morning

At the ticket counter, two agents no customers, they made me use the kiosk to "keep their numbers up"

Got through security with my carton of double yolk eggs my Mom packed with me. Hey, they were still under 3 fl oz apiece, was waiting for them to tell me to put them in a quart plastic bag...

At the gate ... You've seen the joke with the elder secretary using white-out on a computer monitor, well, US Air had a post-it note.

    More later, have to board

US Air had a post-it note over the LCD display for gate assignment with the gate change !!

Then the plane only has 5 passengers so they don't need to load it 30min prior as it can't take off early to DC because it's a 58min flight they have programed for 1.5hr (so that it's never late). So the gate agent says "This announcement is not for you guys" and proceeds to announce to the world that the flight is boarding. Then he comes over to me and asks for my boarding pass and takes it at scans it at the door to look like I boarded 30 minutes ahead.

Of course when I got on the plane I couldn't take my assigned seat because everyone had to sit aft of row 7...

OT: This may be a very city mouse question. I have on rare occasions experienced a double yolk egg and they always were remarked on. How does one know before opening the egg if it is a double?

Seems it would take all the fun out of it if you knew.

My experience with double yolk eggs is they tend to occur during the spring and early summer months.

The Egg is usually a tad bit larger than the other eggs in the carton.

There is a process known as candling, which is part of the grading process. A grader passes the egg over a bright light and that illuminates the interior of the egg. The grader looks for cracks in the shell, the size of the air space at the larger end of the egg, blood spots and any abnormalities (double yolks). If you find a surprise double-yolk egg or two in your carton, just consider it your lucky day! The tendency to produce double-yolked eggs may be genetic. It occurs by chance about once every 1000 eggs.

Not sure how you knew that, but thanks for the info. Lol. I've only gotten a few double yolked eggs in my life, and don't recall ever seeing "double yolked eggs" for sale in the grocery store. Who knew.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Me neither. Will be on the lookout to see if anyone around here sells them.

I had a whole carton of double yolk eggs once - I attributed it to an employee with a sense of humor

                    What did you expect

I sometimes see double yolked eggs in the store, though I'm not sure I'd try to take them on a flight... but back to the OP.... How can USAir afford to run that route? Do you fly it often, and is it ever close to full?

As usual, I can count on GB for balanced opinions and getting things back on track, oh, if there were just more GBs in the world.

I fly it every other month and it's usually more than half full to very full. This aircraft had spent the night in SC, probably bring down a full load and had to get back to DC for another connection so that's why there weren't magical technical problems to keep it from its scheduled rounds. now there's the double joke.

If you look at the daily intake charts on an egg box you will find that a single egg has around 60% of the daily recommended intake of cholesterol and that is mainly the yoke. So don't be eating all them double yokers yourself lol.

You do realize that blood cholesterol does not map directly to your cholesterol intake, right? There are many factors that determine your blood cholesterol.

Why in the heck were you carrying double yolk eggs?

                            Are you just joking?

Sometimes farm stands sell them, or you used to see them at health food stores. They cost more.
