  • USAIR FF program what a ripoff

Recently Usair created a new website. It is combining USAIR and American West together. They combined the FF miles. One big difference I noticed with FF rewards everything is in the middle of the week for the carribean 30,000 round trip rewards. Before you could get FF trips for a total of 30,000 to St. Thomas and Aruba that would be on weekends from UsAIR. That is really disappointing. We have a timeshare in Aruba with sunday checkin . We also just bought at the Marriott in St. Thomas with weekend checkin. Are there any suggestions for how to get FF 30,000 round trip rewards for the carribean. Does anyone know if you can use the Star alliance if USAIR flys to that territorry. I really do want to use 60,000 miles a trip.

This does not sound to good as I have about 85K miles with them. I was ticked off last year when they raised there off peak miles redemption. I had first class booked at 40K miles to Nola and they canceled it because of the hurricane. I got the miles back but I now need more miles to book the same trip.
BTW You may find more tickets if you book first class with miles. That's one reason I booked first class as couch was not available on the weekends.

As far as there new website goes. I like the search features they added. If you used the website in the past you will have to log in with your miles account and create a new log in name.

In a slightly different vein, I was really PO'd at them over some vouchers I got in August. They can only be used like FF seats, I have had an awful time trying to use them. Finally took a one-way with them and had to pay for the return on another airline, even though I tried 331 days in advance, etc.... I will never take r/t vouchers from them again.

Merger of FF programs give airlines an opportunity to create negative ''enhancements''. Air France's old Frequence Plus was a great FF program and KLM's Flying Dutchman was a decent one, but when they were merged into Flying Blue, the result was not as favorable as Flying Dutchman and a tremendoues comedown for Frequence Plus.

Yes. You just book a *A award itinerary with the US award booking agents. They may try to put you on US flights, but politely decline. All *A awards are "saver" awards, so capacity controlled.

Do you know how to use the ANA (NH) tool for *A awards? If not, check the UA forum on FlyerTalk and search for it. AC also has a similar tool.

            Good luck!

If you search the United Airlines forum on Flyertalk, all your questions will be answered. The short version is ANA (All Nipon Airways) shows seats available on nearly all Star Alliance carriers.....one stop information source.
