  • Travel agent messed up - no cruise for me

    Just venting.....

I booked a 3 night cruise on Disney's newest ship in March. Thursday - Sunday. It was the perfect time period because our daughter and my husband both has the the Thursday and Friday off from School/Work. I was able to use awards for flights. Just fit perfectly.

I NEVER, NEVER, EVER use a travel agency. But, this one comes highly recommended via the disboards and mousesavers and they offered $100 onboard credit which direct didn't.

Long story short.....the agent put in the final payment due date wrong. So, I never received billing or notification it was due. They called the other day apologizing....their fault. AND to notify me that my reservation was cancleed for none payment and the cruise is full so I can't even rebook! Only hope is if someone cancels which they doubt. It was a typo and innocent mistake - but one that just cost me my vacation!!!!

They have told me the money I am out will be returned - which is good. But, I am more than annoyed right now. Ok, so you refund me the money - but how do you make up for the vacation missed!

Call up another agent and see if there is an upgraded cabin available. If it is get on the first agents back and tell them you want an upgrade!

Done - I have tried 4 local travel agencies and all I can think of online. Nothing, Ziltch .....noone can find for this particular sailing.

Crazy...but I didn't think of calling Disney directly - will do that in the morning. Thanks Frank for making me think a little harder!

And it's probably going to cost you money to redeposit your FF miles too.

What is the name of the travel agent? I want to be sure not to use that firm. I don't know how they could do that with all the computer systems these days.

Guess I should always pay the final deposit early in the future.

That's the one good thing......I use Southwest - no cost, I'll get them back.

              We've been there. (Well, actually . . . didn't get there. )

The year we took one of the Grand Cayman bulk deposits, and then four of us got Passports, we then found out the plane reservations we had we didn't have.

It was Travelocity, I believe. They booked and confirmed our air, but I got suspicious when their charge was on our credit card but the airlines was not.

Too late to get flights by then. (All the other TS4Ms people taking bulk deposits filled the plane.)

The airlines blamed it on "Travel Agents", actually told me, "That's what happens when you use travel agents."

Still have the Passports. Guess we'll save them for when Florida secedes . . . but then we'll probably have dual citizenship.

                UPDATE:
Travel Agent came through in a BIG way.
I was able to find a different departure date that fit my schedule. Same itenerary, cruise line and ship. But, cost was over $1,000 more than my original.

Guess what.....they not only paid for the increase - they paid for the ENTIRE cruise and transfers. (well minus my $400 deposit.) Holy Crap. It has been a long time that I had dealings with such such a stand up company like this. Talk about exceeding expectations.

That is even better than I expected, I would bet that the cruise line was the one that kicked every thing in.

                      I doubt it.

I would think the TA leaned hard for Disney to open up a cabin and they did, with TA fixing a problem that was already about to start negative word of mouth. Cheaper to keep a customer and good PR.

I am so glad your vacation is salvaged!!!

You lucked out to have such a great travel agent that took care of her mistake. This person has learned from the experience to be more careful and you will have a great time, I hope. Enjoy the cruise. It sounds fabulous.
