I have been looking and looking, I have a mother, two sisters, my children, who are all coming a great distance for this wedding and really can't afford to stay in a motel the whole time and don't want to fly right home either. (my sister has a big house, but all his New Zealand relatives are staying there for three weeks!) so I really hope i can find something where we could stay maybe one or two nights in a motel and then the rest of the time at a timeshare close enough to come back to the airport. I suppose the best thing would be to find a really big house and rent it for a week.

Okay. Here is my two cents. Yes, again!

      Fly into Newark
Stay at the motel/hotel Friday and Saturday fOr the wedding.
Check into a TS on Sunday in the area
Already mentioned Marriott Fairway Villas near Atlantic City less then two hours from wedding area and one and one half hour from NewarknAirport.

Other option....rent a house on the Jersey Shore. You will be a week past "high season" so u should be able to getba nice deal on a 4-5 bedroom home.

If that is the route you want to take, there are many here that are familiar with the area and can recommend.
I know Long Beach Island is a very popular family friendly area and early September is a great time to visit the Shore area.

I'm kind of lost. Where do you want to be when? And for how many people? And how many bedrooms?

good question. I am presuming the week after Sept 10, so Atlantic Shore is how far away? How many bedrooms, probably need 4, might get by with three.

The Jersey shore is between Atlantic City and the airport Newark.
Tenafly is 30 minutes north of the airport ( give or take a few minutes) and Atlantic City is 90 minutes south.
Pat, I am trying to help you here. It is wonderful to rent a shore house. Four or five bedrooms no problem.
The check in will probably be on Saturday but it is okay to arrive on Sunday.

            See my post below.
Google " rentals + Long Beach Island" and see what u come up with. You do not need to be directly on the water, a few 'rows' back will be fine.

the family will get together next weekend, and we will start making some planning decisions. I now realize that lots of neighbors in Estero are from the jersey shore, and they are all up there now.

                Bring a map

It is good to discuss with people who know the area. In fact, they might have friends/relatives that own rental houses in the area.

Point Pleasant is farther north than Long Beach Island (closer to Tenafly) and has a fun boardwalk for the total Jersey shore experience. I can't remember how old the kids are, but even little kids would enjoy the boardwalk--there are carnival rides and games, activities for children, and a surprisingly good aquarium, plus funnel cake, candy apples, cotton candy, and of course the beach.

Long Beach Island is quieter and more beautiful. I think the water and beach are nicer there, too.

You can rent houses all up and down the Jersey shore.

I lost track of where you are with this, but these Berkshires units at Vacation Village are available through Platinum if it helps. Sorry if I'm way off track - looks like you are leaning toward Jersey now, but here ya go:

I booked and released so many units today.

looks like choices are for my daughter's family (with us driving them everywhere and paying the bills)
fly into Newark, sept 9, stay weekend, book Poconos for week and fly out of Newark
fly into newark, sept 9 stay weekend, book Berkshires for week visit son one day, fly out of Boston
book Newport Rhode Island sept 2, takes a lot of points, visit son from there, then check out on sept 9, stay weekend in Tenafly, fly home out of Newark on the 11th, = my daughter will not fly out of Newark.

she seems insistant on visiting her brother, he is not so eager. This week my grandson, who just turned two, climbed out of crib in middle of night, went downstairs, emptied refrig and freezer leaving the food on the floor and the doors opened, brought some food into mom's bedroom and crawled in bed and went to sleep.

don't know what my heaLTH STATUS WILL BE, BUT SHOULD BE RECOVERED FROM SURGERY BUT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PICK UP MY GRANDSON YET, whoops sorry for the caps.

I put a hold on Bently brook II for sun sept 11th.
She would have to fly into Newark and out of boston, unless someone has a better suggestion.
The Clinton Inn special rate would be about 150 a night, for two rooms, I would end up spending about 2500 for the week. my daughter wants to see NY City but unless i can find a better rate I can't do it. Any extended stay motels in the area, at least have a refrigerator?
I am having surgery on the 30th (June) so don't know if i will have my mind made up, but it is only an 11 point week.
