Canada toll roads

We will be in Quebec and the Maritime provinces. Are there any toll roads there? If so, how do they take tolls?

ps. Only asking because someone just came back from Canada and was on a a toll road and didn't pay (and didn't know where to pay) and is hoping he doesn't get fined.

I am not aware of any toll roads in either of these two provinces however there was talk of making some in Quebec.

In Ontario there is only the one which is the 407 which is all done by picture taking of your license plate and then you receive a bill in the mail.

Would recommend mapping it on Mapquest or Google (it will generally tell you) and then you can either detour or check the web for specific toll costs and collection.

Toll road in Nova Scotia

There is a toll road in Nova Scotia, which is east of Amherst NS, and west of Truro NS. There is only 1 booth, and it's midway, and the cost is $4 Canadian. There are several toll bridges in the Halifax area. The toll bridge in Saint John, NB is free now. And of course, there's the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island (17 Kilometers), and that is only collected as you leave the island (I think around $45 Cdn). So they may have crossed over to PEI, and there is no toll on going to the island, but you pay it when you leave.
