Anyone been to a NYC airport the past couple of days?

I know security alerts haven't officially changed, but wondering what I'm in for on Thursday. No checked luggage, I would ordinarily arrive just an hour or maybe a little more ahead for domestic midweek. Flight is fully booked (prob oversold, but I need to get on it, have assigned seats).

Thursday the President is going to be at Ground Zero - I would give yourself some extra time for security and getting out of 'dodge' - less time if coming from the country.

UGH. Will leave extra time. I'm coming from LI but A and others from the city - I'll be sure to tell her to take the north route. The downtown folks are prob screwed. Thanks for the heads up, Pat.

Friends were at the theatre last Wednesday and they were held hostage in the theatre for 15 minutes after the show b/c Pres was across the street. Noone was allowed to leave, very freaky. Many people missed trains and were VERY unhappy (and I don't blame them), in addition to it being unnerving in general. I wonder if the gov't already knew by then - it hadn't occurred to me but am guessing the answer is yes.

My daughter lives in NJ and has missed two flights last month due to traffic issues around Newark-- each time she had planned for a 2 hr cushion... crazy huh?? So be sure to give yourself plenty of time.

Just went through the midtown Port Authority and they have bag check stations set up by the commuter gates. Havent seen that for a long time.

I'm at Newark now waiting to board my flight to Spain. Definitely extra security, but no major delays.
