I use hotwire a lot, and have always seen the total charges before accepting. If I don't like the total, I don't accept.

Mostly I use hotwire as a bidding guide for priceline, and that normally works out well.

      I win! I win! I win!

I just booked my car thru Hotwire-but it wasn't a Hotwire price-it showed me Hertz and asked if I wanted it....at 4.50 a day for a midsize. I'm all in at 103.00 and some change for 8 days.

      Wooooo!!!!!!

I know ...I kept looking and looking...where's the catch? BUT-I went over to the Hertz website and plugged in the confirmation number and there it was...30.00 for a week. 6.00 for the extra day..and then the assorted taxes and fees. Unbelievable!

Rental cars are insane. I am looking for Aug5-13 pick up at PHX and return same. Insane for a MidSize car. The lowest thus far is around $350. I just got back from MCO May 7 and paid $155 for a Chevy Impala for the week.

I'll have to keep looking. It's crazy when the car rental is more than the airfare!

Anyone remember the last time there was a really great code, and who was the only one it did not work for . . . which happened at the counter when I was picking it up?

If I got a great deal like that, I would not trust it until I was in the car, driving away . . . no, until a couple credit card bills later.
