Allegiant Baggage Fees

In recent history, Allegiant has charged $30 for the first checked bag, $50 for the second, and something like your life savings for the third. That led to overcrowding of carry-ons in the cabin, and free checking of some carry-ons when that occurred.

I booked a flight today and it did not have a selection for checked baggage; no mention of checked baggage except for there being a charge for overweight ones.

It said you could have one carry-on (gave size) and one personal item (gave size).

There was baggage fee of $19.99 automatically added to the fare.

I checked January flights to Florida ($32.99) and the baggage fees are back.

Allegiant's web site tends to add lots of things in, some of which aren't required. If you don't want to pay for baggage, because you won't have any checked bags, then you should de-select them. It sometimes takes a few tries to get it wrong, but I think you can get the price down by doing so.
