  • Do you take your (ROKU) Media Player to your Timeshare Vacation?

OK last year I tried the ROKU and I did not like it so I sent it back.
Got the Kindle Fire for DW on her B'day, and signed up for Amazon Prime.

Now I have a real need to get a media player or Blu-Ray player to view Amazon Prime on the Big Screen. Also signed up for Netflix streaming.

I got the Sony Network Media Player SMP-NX20 at Costco for $75. So far I am happy.

Has anyone taken their Media Player and signed in to the WIFI and hooked to the Big Screen at the Resort where you enjoyed your vacation?

I am also interested in this info as I have a roku and have wondered about traveling with it.

I have an appleTV, but do not travel with it. Most hotel/resort wifi is pretty crummy speed-wise, and would not likely support much in the way of streaming video.

You would hope and think that the resorts where you have to pay for WIFI that the bandwidth could support streaming. I am going to a resort where I will have to pay for WIFI. So we shall see.

We have Slingbox and used it for the past few years to watch anything on our home TV/DVR when on vacation to Mexico. We have had pretty good luck when staying at the Mayan Palace or Grand Mayan, but did have to pay for the WIFI for the week.

This past year we did not have good luck with it at the smaller resorts that provided free WIFI. The streaming video was too slow at those particular resorts. We suggested in our reviews to management that they get a better WIFI plan.

My roku player has worked well at Grand Beach and Orange Lake in Orlando.

              It works!

At Vacation Village in the Berkshires, having to pay for WIFI.

The only catch is that I had to call the WIFI vendor Hotel Internet Services and give the support agent my MAC address, username. The bandwidth is not as fast as my home speed of course, but it is sufficiently fast enough to support Netflix and Amazon Prime.
