    Stop Overs Along Interstate 81

    Hagerstown, Md

    * Railroad Junction Family Restaurant

    The dining room of the Railroad Junction at 808 Noland Street off U.S. 11
    looks almost like a dining car on a train. When the clock on the wall strikes
    the hour, a train whistle blows. Pictures of trains line the paneled walls.

    Railroad Junction Family Restaurant

    Winchester, Va

    Great place for a quick stopover
    Plenty of fast food restaurants

    Harrisonburg, Va

    * Woodfire Grill (Buffet)

    Be sure to stop off and pick up a few things for breakfast, snacks
    at Martin`s, Krogers, Food Lion along Route 33 before heading in..

      Marti, Frank knows you well...thanks for posting.

      Ride, I have some very sophisticated NYC friends who rear enjoy Cracker Barrel - I think you and your DD will, too.
      Or also one of Marti's suggestions - ya gotta eat when you are there, too, right?

        Thats my gal, I knew you would provide some info. I got another request. On 80 Jersey side about 5 miles before you get to the Del water gap. There is a truck stop gas station with a diner. I have stoped there for gas and used the rest room thats when I saw how nice the dining area was with a nice menu. Can you figure out what place I am talking about?

          Speaking of Cracker Barrel, in case you are interested...they are building one on Hwy 278 in Bluffton on your way from I 95 to Hilton Head Island.

                I have been once, earlier this year at the recommendation of some friends. To be honest, is was nothing to write home about, but the portion sizes WERE huge. The corn bread (which Karen LOVES) we found to be on the dry side and a little bland tasting. I had the Chicken & Dumplings have never had them before and would not get them again. The atmosphere was fun, and I would probably go back to try something else but would not be my first choice.

                  No...they don't really have them up here. And then when we're on vacation, we never think to go to one. I've never even been inside one, just seen the signs.

                    That's definitely on our list! When we stayed in Williamsburg last year they had that available as an 'event' at the resort, my daughter still loves the stuffed animal....Hopefully this should be better then just 2-3 options with a resort staff standing over your looking at their watch

                        That is true, I do love kitschy things. I'll try to be open-minded about them. What do you order there? Breakfast stuff?

                            I've been to a Bob's Big Boy once...when I was a teenager...in Ohio or Indiana. I just recently went to a Bob Evans for the first time. It was pretty good! And the waiter was great.

                                It looks fun there, and it should be really hopping over Presidents' Week! Have a great time.
