and vice versa. Same thing with American Airlines as well.

Alaska and Delta are pretty closely connected. Almost all Delta flights up and down the West Coast are actually codeshares with Alaska. Whenever Alaska flies into a terminal where they don't have enough flights to justify having their own staff, gate staff and ground crews are normally Delta staff. I suspect Delta would take over Alaska if they could, but Alaska stock is pretty richly priced compared with Delta's.
