How could it be Key West and 100 miles away? I thought there was a small airport right on the island?

I tried 11-4 to 11-11 and it didn't work, but then used 11-10 to 11-17 and it worked from BNA to Key West, FL - EYW. I think SW is taking over the Air Tran route.

Yes it is a small island and from Miami it is 160 miles. You save about 60 miles booking key west but your paying more for te flight there.

Time = money and if your intent is to stay in KW then flying in is worth the extra $. Driving is a 1/2 experience with the speed limit dropping to 35 in some areas with no passing..
Not saying its not a nice ride because it is... but if time is not on your side.. pay to fly direct!

Frank, you must be confusing Key West airport (EYW) with another one. The airport is only 4 miles from the "Old Town" section of Key West. If you're staying on that part of the island you can take a taxi from the airport and save the cost of a rental car. Most of the popular areas are located right in or around Old Town.

I think the drive from Miami is an enjoyable part of the trip.

Yeah, we especially enjoyed the 3-hour segment where everyone just parked where they were, and waited for emergency equipment to get to and remove the wreck.

Key West was just a timeshare bucket list destination, and we got it checked off. In the old days, there was just something about seeing the Galleon available the week you need it.

It is a nice drive once or twice, but after that I would rather fly to Key West and enjoy the extra time.

We gain extra time, to enjoy, by not going to Key West. Think of all the extra time we gain by not going from up here.

Of course, can't talk about Key West without mentioning Conchman (RIP).

Frank, this link is to the Marathon airport and it is about an hour's drive from Key west. Key West has its own airport.
