I'm thinking that I should also start switching and churning for rewards like the Flytertalkers do. Loyalty seems to be a thing of the past with these companies and probably something that I need to adopt as well. I will miss my AA miles though. I've gotten alot of free flights over the years. One less expense I had to worry about and now airfare is so high I probably won't be flying as much.

I am cashing in 75,000 points soon and having the $750 deposited in my Bank of America checking and get an additional $75 bonus. This is a business card; I don't know if it is available for non-business.

I also use an AA Citibank card. I only got it for the sign up bonus and the free luggage. We have other cards too, but these are the two we use most often.

I don't have my business account at BOA so haven't been offered any business CC's. I do have both of my RCI and Amex at BOA though. I don't think they have any cash options for redemptions although I'm not sure I'd want the cash anyway.

    They have BOA in Canada?

For me, the use of this card gives me a Companion Pass every year. As a family of 3 we fly 5 times per year and I never pay for flights. So, that is 15 free flights per year. Once I earn my Companian Pass for the year I switch over to Marriott for a few months.

Since your usuage is only $15,000 - $20,000 per year. I would switch to a cash back one like Discover. Maximize what you can. Sign up for the quarterly 5% cash back bonus segments and then shop via their portal.
Actually Southwest flies out of Ft. Lauderdale and I used to fly them alot before I started racking up AA miles but I never seemed to be able to redeem anything with them because my rewards were always expiring. I think they used to have a different rewards program where you got credits for the flight instead of miles or something like that and you had to do too many flights to get a reward. I was flying cross country but only once or twice a year. Seemed better with AA for some reason.

As for Discover, I hate Sears so I don't want anything to do with them anymore. We got screwed by Allstate after Hurricane Andrew and Sears owns Allstate and Discover so they are off my list of businesses I will deal with.

I just got the Jetblue Amex because they promised a 10,000 point bonus with my first purchase "which is good for a free round-trip". Needless to say, the points were not worth a free trip. I think they raised the point value of flights right when I joined LOL.
We also have the GM mastercard. It gives 5% back on every purchase which can be used for sales/leases of GM vehicles. Since we lease our cars this card is great for us. I am limited to the amount of points I can redeem, so when I max out I switch to the other cards. GM always offers an incentive to redeem, sometimes up to $2,000 more. I have never leased a car where I have had to put money down, I just use the points. They let you use them for the tax also.
Hmmm. That's an interesting way to redeem. Free car. Too bad I'm not crazy about GM. Does Ford or Nissan do that too?

Since I will be able to charge younger dds tuition again I look forward to earning quite a few free flights.

Prior to having the Southwest Visa I had a United one with Chase. At that time we were flying United more. I also have a Capital One that just earns points. I only opened that card since they don't have a fee for foreign transactions. When younger dd was attending school in Vancouver that was the card she used, and the one I used when I took her up there.
Looks like my AA points will be UA points soon so I guess I'll find out how good UA is. They aren't big here in Miami so I rarely fly them but I guess things may be changing.

Last summer tey ran a special for Shell gas cards, $20 for a $40 card. I had enough points for around 17 of them, which kept me in gas for most of the summer.
This is what I end up doing with the RCI card. One year I got 10 gas cards and gave them as Christmas gifts.

I have a Marriott Visa, Amex, and BOA .....I use my Marriott Visa & Amex the most often. I also have a Capitol One, but don't really use it often. I mostly use it while abroad because of the great exchange rates.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I've read that Marriott also has decent foreign exchange fees or rates, don't really remember. I guess if you travel abroad alot like you do then it would make a big difference. I could also see how it would be advantageous for a student studying abroad. Stuff I don't have to think about.
