Sis in north Jersey lost power around 3:00 PM. Later a tree fell across her driveway bringing all her own power lines down, so she can't go anywhere. All of my family in NJ & PA are without power. Luckily my son in PA has a generator and a wood stove because it's cold up there. Don't know how the others are going to stay warm.

We lost power as I was outside smoking my cigar. I was seeing all the transformers blowing far away then saw a flash which was ours and that is when we lost power. We just got back on a half hour ago. My son is stuck in his blackend appartment. The Hudson is in front of his house and people rafting on his block.

My uncle had to be rescued in his house at 2 am from the slug of Howard Beach which was chest high.

I certainly hope that those of you who were hit hard get back to normal soon.

I just heard that they are extending the time line for many area's from 4-5 days now up to 10 days or longer to get the power back on. The generator I was using is now being used for someone in Lyndenhurst LI.

Still no power for me. I am at my brother's for a hot shower and an internet fix. I lost charges on my cell phone and laptop and am now using his house as a charging station.

I had a battery jumper battery that I had fully charged before Sandy hit. I was able to charge my phones from that and it also had a built in bright light. You can also use a phone car charger

                        Back on the grid. WOOHOO!

                        I hate camping.

I know I'm a weenie. We had little damage other than electric here and so many lost so much.

I find it fascinating that while being deprived of many of the basics, y'all have a way to stay connected.

Cellphones worked through this one. They charge up real slow in the car.
